Some times companies make stupid decisions. I was working a B2B sales job, coming into this location I was the top producing sales person. Not only was I the top producer I also trained several sales people and got their numbers up as a sales person. I know my craft inside and out and I knew my team. Well my sales manager got fired (she was a horrible sales manager) So I took over as interim sales manager and for 4 months I ran that place, I made a really great hire, we had great sales, not only did we have good sales we had nice clean business. I worked with the the production side of the house to ensure the sales team was selling stuff they could delivery on. I applied for an interviewed for the sales manager and I felt I knocked it out of the park. So…

We're all in a “boiling the frog” situation where company forced RTO (return to office) 1 day a week and now suddenly wants 3 days a week in office. Only a few people spoke up the first time (including me) and top management claims we are a vocal minority and that there are a “significant amount of people who enjoy coming to office”. They didn't show any data to back this up, obviously. I've visited the office on many occasions when coming in was still optional, and they were 99% empty. Last year HR did group meetings with people to collect feedback on WFH and the majority of people said they were very happy with it. Now RTO is forced because “company culture”. I think most people are just going to silently comply with this and eventually we will be back to 5 days a week. Any ideas what I…
I have a girl I work with who does literally half the work of everyone else and still feels the need to no clock out for half of her lunch so she gets paid for it. She get paid more than me and does almost nothing because she knows we will cover for her
Unwanted shifts always land on me
I have previously been too nice and pick up shifts to help my manager out when there's no staff available for the saturday evening shifts. This time I offered to be on standby but he put me on for a shift anyway. I let him know that I couldn't do it any longer because I have to get up early the next day for another job. He explained that it works is that even though we're casual staff, we have to commit to the shifts that we're assigned to and asked if I would like to finish earlier. I haven't replied to him yet but surely as casual staff you're not obliged to work shifts with enough notice? Do I still have to work the shifts?
Flew out of town for a job interview with a municipality. They were incredibly eager and ready to hire me that second. On the application, they asked me for salary expectations. I put a number that's less than their max on the posted range. After the interview process, they told me they'd match my salary expectation, but later when I get the offer letter, they offer me $5k less than that number. I call my contact and ask why, and they tell me its just bureaucracy and red tape. I would need to just send them an email saying I want more, and I would get it and we move along. I send the email letting them know I'm excited and willing, just that I wanted a discussion on the base rate. I didn't reject it, because I wouldn't have. A few days later, I get an email saying that…

Subject: My Epic Battle Against the Monstrous Traffic Beast I hope this message finds you with a smile on your face. Today, I have a tale of bravery, perseverance, and a mighty foe that stood between me and the office—The Monstrous Traffic Beast! As I set out on my heroic journey to work this morning, little did I know that the forces of chaos were conspiring against me. The road, usually my trusty ally, transformed into a labyrinth of vehicles locked in a battle for inches of asphalt. It seemed as though the entire city had decided to challenge me to a game of “Who Can Sit in Traffic the Longest?”. Undeterred by the daunting challenge, I donned my armor (which conveniently doubles as a car seatbelt) and prepared to face the monstrous creature head-on. Armed with my navigation app and a carefully curated playlist of motivational tunes, I entered…
All day the majority of the company smokes about 30ft away from the room I work in. It’s awful. I get the most horrible headaches from the smell and I come home and have to shower immediately. I don’t care if someone’s smokes, but why do I need to be a casualty of it?

I recently interviewed for a manager position at my work, despite being told I delivered an “amazing” interview, the role was given to an external candidate with more experience. A week before someone else in the neighbouring team interviewed for a manager position (in their team). They didn't get it but were offered a senior position in the same team. Their new role is basically to manage one person in their team who is on a lower grade, and is now on a higher grade with a bigger salary. After my interview, I was offered the same opportunity (to manage the person in my team on a lower grade) and obviously I said yes because I was under the impression it would be a promotion and the same arrangement as my colleague, especially as we sit in the same directorate and share a senior manager. Last week my manager informed…
