Can we be punished for talking about our wages?

I work in Missouri, for a Grocer under union local 88. Neither the union rep I talked to nor a friendly manager was for sure if we could be written up for talking to others about how much we make. I know there’s some labor laws about not getting fired for it but unsure about write ups/other disciplinary actions.

children are part of U.S. child labor history, where many children were exploited by companies, working long 10-12, sometimes 16 hours shifts for as little as pennies a day.

Corporate Buzzword Alert: “Serendipitous Moments”

In order to “foster collaboration” tech turd leaders are using the term “Serendipitous Moments” to encourage everyone to come into the office. The first time I heard this from our leadership I audibly laughed. Then, I heard it from friends at other organizations. Its almost as if the leadership at these tech start-ups get all of their buzzword nonsense from the Family Guy Idea Ball Walruses. /endrant

I was Fired Over Text with no Warning and no Given Reason . . .

. . . the day after I spent over $200 at my former workplace. I managed a casual fine dining restaurant for a few months. The family owns not only the restaurant, but the entire office park as well. I never recieved so much as a verbal warning for anything: no disciplinary actions were ever taken, no warnings about my job performance. I regularly showed up 10-15 minutes early. I cared about my job. I enjoyed my job. And I now, without any warning, I have to worry about how I'm going to feed my daughter. They looked me in my eyes, smiled, and took my money as they trained a new hire to do my job. And yet they had the audacity to complain about people quitting with no notice because of their ridiculous policies. Fuck that place. And those people.

How to continue without becoming homeless?

Things are getting worse and worse at work. Sudden changes in the company has put us under immense pressure to perform. Meanwhile management take months or years to make anything better or provide us with suggested tools and resources to help us perform. They just don't listen to us or don't care. I'm so tired of them putting all the responsibility and more and more pressure on us ' lowly workers', while they're late or don't show up for meetings, rarely answer questions about things we need to know or give contradictory answers or they just don't know and never get back to us. But they require EVERYTHING from us. More and more knowledge and more and more accuracy. I'm sad deep inside and it's taking over my life!! I just don't want to be homeless or lose my home. I don't know what to do. I'm too tired to…

After being remote for 3 years, my job is forcing us to come in two days a week for “collaboration”. More than half my team is in different states or countries. They gave us about 3 weeks notice.

What solutions do you guys propose, and what are you doing to achieve these solutions?

It seems like a lot of people here just decide that capitalism is evil and that it exploits people. Our world was not built on people that sat around all day. Julius Caeser did not sit around and take the throne of the Roman empire. Why do you guys think that work is so bad and what solutions do you guys actually come up with to address this?

Employer Gaslighting Me About Benefits…Thoughts? Rights?

So to set the scene, I am a Project Manager (full-time remote, salaried) at a very small company. And when I say small, I mean I report directly to the owner and there is no HR department. I started the first week of February and when I signed the job offer, was told that health insurance coverage would be available at 61 days of employment and that PTO would be available at 90 days. Well here we are almost at the end of May, and I have been given no information about either. By my calculation, it's been 75 business days and 106 calendar days since I started – though from what I gather, the industry standard is that benefits should be calculated by calendar days. On Friday I sent a very professional and level-headed email to the owner, saying that I had not received the relevant information, and if…
