Got pulled into the back today by district manager for a meeting, turns into her informing me I have multiple violations in dress code ( no one had mentioned this to me previously). I was sent a digital copy of the dress code which they had updated and revised and simply… not let any of the staff know. So they changed the rules, didn’t tell anyone then punished them for not following rules that were never rules before.
Category: Antiwork
A little bit ago I was working, normally I do afternoons until almost midnight. Due to medical issues including IBS and a weak bladder, I find myself heading to the bathroom fairly regularly. I am also autistic so I struggle with social cues. I’ve noticed for the past month that I’m being monitored closely at night by a coworker. Today when I came out of the bathroom and back to the shop floor, one of my coworkers (who I don’t even know the name of) asked me where I was, when I replied I was just using the bathroom, he said I go every 10 minutes and I need to tell someone. This is obviously untrue, it is far from every 10 minutes, and I don’t feel it is anyone’s business if I need to use the bathroom, especially if I can’t even find anyone. He continued to act aggressively,…
How tf do people afford decorations
Does anyone else think it's wild when you go to someone else's house that is older and maybe done better in life than you have and you see decorative items? Like I have worked 40-60 hours a week my whole life and I can't afford to spend $30 on a fucking glass jar and some pebbles to ornament my table. Or gigantic planter boxes and ornamental plant holders. I'm trying to eat before I decorate my house.
This week my wife and I went to a Subway, and as I was paying the person working there (for whom English was clearly a second language) tried to tell me not to tip using the credit card machine because his boss takes all of those tips. They had a tip jar in front of the register that they get to keep the tips from, but since most people pay with cards now you can imagine that it was almost entirely empty. So I want to report this Subway location for wage theft and at least try to get an investigation started, but I can't find any way to do that if it's not my own wages being stolen. The problem is, if this franchise owner is hiring people who can't speak English very well, they might not have the resources to report this themselves if they even realize that…
Personality questions
Ok I may suck for this question but seriously whatever because the questions are so stupid and have nothing to do with how someone will actually do the job. Is there a website that has a bank of personality questions and the likely answers they want? It is mind numbing to puzzle it out and I’m in customer service so getting those questions is a given. I did try google but what I found turned out to be less than helpful.
Do employees matter at all?
Work my socks off the last few years creating new innovations in a technology company. Get no pay rise at all and reward sales people for the very thing I created. It is an easy sell in good times leading to high rewards for barely literate sales people but as soon as economic uncertainity appears they dont know their arse from their elbow and unfortunately the rest of the team who are very productive suffer. Just because the Sales can't do their job.
Hello, Okay so one of my managers pulled me into a huddle room because they was concerned about me like nothing is wrong except my last job under paid me so I basically look homeless at the moment lol don’t get paid till the end of the month. But the fact that they said “ we are a family here” I’m like oh boy here we go they love to pry into folks business like just companies do better so that we won’t t look like we just been through hell and back ten times. I was just like all is well I would never consider anyone my family member at my job that’s how you get set up . Also I feel like my new job has a evil spirit over it had an encounter the other day lot of these managers are not fit to be in position…
I think I’m being Retaliated against
I work in Specifically a mixed Retail/Healthcare environment. I was hired two years ago at 11.50$ an hour to start, as a receptionist. I've since climbed through the corporate ladder and now sit as a Assistant Manager (as high as I'd like to go because I do not want to be Salaried, I work too much overtime for it to work in my favor.) I only make 17$ an hour right now. I found out that my brand new receptionist makes 15$ an hour to start. Has no prior experience. He is planning to climb through the ranks as well, and when I got wind of this, I was upset. Then they told me my raise would be soon, and things subsided for the time being. I got the call about my raise, and they only upped my wages by 3%. I was even more upset, and brought up the…
Wife’s company making us move…
So my wife works at a very VERY large and wealthy online retailer. She started during the pandemic, so everyone was remote. Said employer just told us a month ago that we HAVE to relocate to where there is an office… in the next 3 months. The part about this that pisses me off is that she is already paid MUCH less than she would make at other companies on that same level. But mostly, because we are expected to go find a house when interest rates are so damn high. Most other companies have hiring freezes, so it’s not like she can just go work for one of them. Makes me never want to buy stuff on “Shmamazon” again. (Company name changed to protect privacy)
People showing up in droves for all these places with 50% off sales for Mothers Day. And not one person bothers to question capitalist greed. They could do that all year and turn huge profits but people flock thinking they are saving money on these “50% off” sales. They have got everyone completely under control and brainwashed. My God its exhausting.
