I was just curious who was right here. I told her that them forcing you to take a 50 hour course before officially hiring you counts as mandatory training and is thus illegal in the state of New York to be unpaid for her time. Her only response is “no it isn’t” and every time I bring up laws, and all she says is “the way it’s set up it’s not illegal”. And I’m very tired of hearing this coming from them.
Any problem at all. I want to find something I can’t apply this to and so far I can’t.
Coworker keeps switching shifts.
So I am almost a full time employee, and I previously was, but now I work part time since I've gone back to school. One of my coworkers asks to switch days/shifts around with me quite often. With my actual schedule, I have a 3 day block off to do homework. But if I switch days I get 2 days best. This is also nearly the 5th week this has happened. I just don't understand what's going on and how to politely say I'd like to work the schedule I actually have, rather than shifting it around week after week. Idk this is mostly a rant, but I'd really like some advice!

I saw a post stating that people that make under a certain amount per year shouldn’t have to pay taxes. My first thought was that would be a huge help to those that make less, but what about representation. “No taxation without representation” comes to mind, but in reverse. No representation without taxation. Big disclaimer, I don’t agree that anyone should have their right to vote taken away. I’m just curious how many folks would actually give up their right to vote to not pay taxes.
At least they’re being honest /s
A text message from a manager, classy stuff.
