My wife is a nurse at a surgery center and has been at this job for many years. They were told that they have 2 weeks to go get finger printed and are subject to background checks. The company is paying for the application fee, but are saying that it is up to the employees to pay for the actual finger printing. I thought this all sounded very odd considering she'd been there so long and they had never said anything about this. They also aren't paying for the finger printing, travel/mileage to the facility to get it done, or for her time involved in the process. The finger printing is only $10, but I don't think that should matter. If this is being mandated at work, shouldn't they have to pay for everything? We're in Minnesota.

Hello I am 20(M) And I recently started(6 days) to work at a mall of sorts, that is 20 minutes away by foot. I walk 0.6 miles to, AND from work every day. So that is about 1.2 miles sometimes over 2 miles if I cannot get a ride that day. And I work from 2 PM to 11 PM For instance, I have an hour “lunch” and I would have to jog to and from my home under 20 minutes in order to eat for 10 minutes and jog back to work and be totally wiped for the other four hours I have to work. By the time it hits 11PM I am already half asleep by the time I get back home. Sometimes I am able to pick up a ride for lunch so I can enjoy dinner with my family, and not worry about being late. I…

Not including people who work for themselves or consult. I notice the biggest gripe I have with most jobs is the need to be “parked in front of a computer between my scheduled hours” even if nothing needs my attention. My job monitors this via use of teams with an auto time out of 5 mins if the mouse hasn’t been moved. 5 mins isn’t enough time to really do ANYTHING away from the computer. Book out personal meetings to appear ‘busy’ pretty regularly so you don’t go idle? You’ll end up having a one on one with management to explain. They monitor your status and what your workload is if you aren’t “green” (available) consistently. Some people were refusing to use the chat software at first so they were getting away with it but it’s been pretty enforced where now everyone has to have it on. I have heard…
The constant micro managing is killing me. Need a solution to stay mobile.
Tl;Dr Does bullying an employee to an extreme so hard because you want to quit fall under wrongful termination? This is my specific situation (and rant); I loved my job… until one manager started harassing and bullying me after I didn't take on her work load. She's menaced at me by holding a knife to me and actually assaulted me after weeks of intense bullying and loudly complaining about me/throwing me under the bus. I didn't even refuse her work- I wanted more training and information on certain aspects and she outright refused and got belligerent. The other manager I've brought issues to has become “good like a durian” friends with the other manager. Although she was being bullied so hard by the first manager when she first got here that I was used as a crutch and the entire thing began to make ME uncomfortable! She's illegally blamed me…
Parttime, fired for taking breaks.
Hey y'all. Someone close to me, let's call her P recently got fired after calling in sick for the next day (she threw up multiple times that night & didn't get a single second of sleep). She didn't get fired for being sick too often, nor for any other (imo) valid reason. She got fired because she takes breaks too often. She works at a place in the Netherlands, and the place changed owners at least 3 times. The latest, and current owner is a Chinese lady who barely speaks Dutch, she asked P multiple times for help regarding financial and administrative topics, and she never changed any rules or worktimes for anyone working there. Now, after about 5 months of working for the latest owner, she got fired because she was not allowed to take any breaks throughout the day. Now, I don't exactly know the rules regarding breaks…
