I am writing this post to share my story and seek support from those who understand the pain of being betrayed by an employer. I worked as an environmental engineer for a small company for over a year, and what started as a promising opportunity turned into a living nightmare. This company had a total of 11 employees, where the junior engineers were all young females and the senior engineers were much older men. I was eager to learn and grow in my field, so I put in long hours and taught myself everything I could, as the senior engineers were unwilling to properly train me. Despite my hard work and dedication, I was met with constant negativity and discrimination. I was made to feel guilty for taking my 5 vacation days, and was given a performance review where they demanded more from me without any clear explanation of what…

Can we talk about how messed up it is that my company, MetaLab, doesn't even have formal contracts in place for the co-founders? They're making bank while the rest of us are left in the dark with zero security. My boss, Andrew Wilkinson, one of the co-founders made 500k plus last year. FOR literally doing nothing, and how wild is this….he doesn't even have a formal contract with our company or other affiliated ones. How is that even binding and safe? How is that supposed to protect us as employees from things like harrassment, job security, etc.. And now the company is on the verge of being sold to WeCommerce – a public company and this guy will own 82%.
I have been employed for 9 years with a corporation that is on the fortune 500 list. Only the last year and current year has been the best case scenario. This doesn't count for time off from COVID due to state lockdowns (which they still made us work 9 hour days from home M-F). 8 years of my career has been the worst case scenario. 8 hours of work + 1 hour paid lunch (and no you can't leave early every day for your lunch break) On call always expected to answer corporate cell phone (but they respect your time if sick or on vacation) 45 hours a week minimum, over time pay at straight pay if over 45 hours a week, to get over time pay at time and a half you must have over 60 hours in 1 week 2%, 3% and 4% depending on corporate will be…
Stringing him along
My partner is in need of a new job. Not once, not twice, but three times now he’s been interviewed, sometimes extensively, and told that he would be hired only to have the person say “well, I want to hire you but we don’t have anything right now, but we’ll keep you in mind a few months down the road.” Not pool positions. These are openings he applied for that just…don’t get filled. They’re just interviewing to see what’s out there. It’s incredibly damaging to his prospects and his self-esteem to go through this process repeatedly, be told he’s an ideal candidate, and not come out of it with a job. Being clear- this is not him interviewing poorly or having bad references. He’s been told he’d be hired and then had it walked back for nebulous reasons three times at different companies. He’s asked for feedback and been told…
I am so so tired of working with violent, hostile, aggressive coworkers and bosses. I cant count how many coworkers I’ve had threaten to bash my head in. Some drunk, some high, many both, but some stone cold sober but with the intent to kill in their eyes. Ive had a coworker and supposed mentor try to pull me into a table saw. And when I reported him to my boss… I got fired instead. I just recently had a supervisor threaten me. This job, it was well known that no one would be fired for practically any fuckup (many people constantly did millions of dollars worth of damage) EXCEPT for violence. Except when it happened to ME… they refused to fire the guy. They tried to downplay it. Id say around 8/10 jobs ive worked have had violence or threats of violence. And its not something i can report…
