Opinions about this line in a take home assignment

Hi guys, I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, sorry if it isn't. I have seen posts about job listings that trigger or irritate people, so I do not want to do the same. English is not my first language so I wanted to get your opinions. I'm hiring developers for my company and need to send our (paid) take home assignment to a foreign candidate. Since this is a take home project, we have seen people who did not do the assignment themselves. I'm also a 16-year developer myself so cheaters clearly show after they start to work because they cannot literally do the same simple things on the job or it's obvious from the questions they ask. I own this company for more than a decade but it's still emotionally very hard for me to fire people even when they are in the…

I can’t take the the disrespect that I get from my managers anymore

I don’t know if this is the right sub for this, but I feel like I need to get it out there. Every one of my managers treats me like trash. I’m a janitor at a gym and I absolutely hate it. All of my coworkers ignore me because of my position. I have to do the most physically demanding and gross jobs: re racking heavy weights, sometimes outside in the summer in Arizona Cleaning and unclogging toilets Cleaning hair, piss, and semen out of the shower drains Dealing with all of the general maintenance (garbage, general cleaning, etc.) All by myself. Do I ever get recognition? No. I get talked down to and insulted if I miss something or am not working fast enough. I get yelled at for having an earbud in while I work. I get told I smell bad after doing everything I mentioned above. Managers…

Salaried employees required to clock in/out

I really don’t understand this. Why do salaried employees need to clock in and out when the hours are set, and managers are there to confirm attendance? Really gets my goat. Employer sent a company wide email saying time cards not clocked in in real time (as opposed to retroactively inputting start time) will no longer be paid without a satisfactory written explanation, for every single occasion. Just useless bullshit which I don’t see a reason for. Malicious compliance ideas?

My boss watches me on the video cameras even on her days off so I’m quitting

I work at a little boutique alongside 2 other people, one being my coworker and one being my manager. There’s only the three of us – I’ve only been there for a month now and I can’t stand it, mostly I can’t stand my manager. There can never be a positive thing that leaves her lips without something negative following up right behind. Nothing we do seems to be good enough … which is bizarre because it’s a small shop and we work very hard. She constantly belittles us, it’s a small shop in France and I’m only half French so she’ll make little jokes that I can’t spell in French infront of customers – as well as make jokes that I can’t count… the breaking point was when she admitted that she watched the sécurité cameras everyday even when she’s not working. She’ll watch them multiple times and call…

Automation: The Illusion of Freedom and the Reality of Surplus

In a small town nestled amidst the rolling hills, there existed two thriving businesses – both dedicated to the production of needles and supplies. In this idyllic setting, demand and supply existed in perfect harmony, a delicate balance that had been carefully maintained over the years. However, one of these businesses, spurred by the promises of technological advancements, chose to embrace automation to increase their productivity. And indeed, the results were impressive – output soared to new heights, while the demand remained unchanged. But alas, the consequences of this decision were not all positive. Rather than simply retaining the same productivity levels and releasing a few human hours, the business found itself with a surplus of products, and a pressing need to create more demand. And so, in a cruel twist of fate, the very automation that was meant to free humans from their toil, ended up imprisoning them. The…

NOTHING WORKS ANYMORE

From college, blue collar trade work, or even USPS and government careers to minimum wage and small business. Nothing works. Go to college? Oopsies everyone already has a degree. Theres nothing special about you. No experience? Well too bad cause you need experience just for entry level and it’s minimum wage. But if you don’t have any college then you won’t have any chance of even entry level. Someone will also tell you “WeLl jUst gEt A UsEful DegReE oR SkiLL” even though there are people who do have useful skills like engineering who still can’t find a job with their degree because the markets absurdly competitive above min wage. Trying construction, trade work or skilled labor? Well good luck even getting in. Your options are union or non union and trade school. If you chose union well great cause there are barely any room for new apprenticeships. Besides the…
