At the company I’ve been with for 8 years, I’ve finally decided enough was enough. I’ve been on the short end of getting raises, school tuition reimbursement that was promised but never happened, and being understaffed/overworked. I started as someone who work on the assembly line and moved up to a set up tech. After getting schooling done I joined maintenance, shortly after I was the lead technician for my shift/crew. Around that time the company lost several people due to getting better paying jobs. My crew was reduced to myself and one other. It is suppose to be 3 maintenance and 2 set up techs, all the shift were missing 2-3 people. For almost two years it was myself and the other tech. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, still being short handed. A newer maintenance tech, that has been work for the company for about 4 months,…

I applied and got a new job as individual contributor. I just finished my 1st week and in a span of a few days I found out I wont be an individual contributor and instead will have teams reporting to me. I have a meeting w our team's Director next week and I cant help but feel anxious. I know I was very excited about the IC role, cant say I feel the same about the team role and it might be how I found out or completely different expectations, I dont know! Thanks in advance.
Am I allowed to discuss my hourly rate?
I’m reading my new employment contract and it states “you are not to discuss your hourly rate with any other employees apart from the manager” are they allowed to enforce this? I’m in australia
Found a US General Strike website
Sign the strike card at generalstrikeus.com, they need 10 million members, and so far, they are at about 2000. This could be a chance to have a real May 1968 style revolution in the United States. Shut down the economy and the government. Viva la revolution!
Hi! So, I am currently writing an argument proposal, which includes an annotated bibliography of sources that I would like to cite in my main argument for my next assignment. My argument is that unionization works to address wage inequality in the workplace (among many other forms of inequality) in the hopes of persuading workers who are on the fence of union membership. Ultimately, I will be presenting my argument in a 10 minute long TikTok. I would love to hear your experiences, either with joining a union, being a due-paying member of a union, with your attempts to start a union, or your thoughts on unionization, regardless of your stance (pro or con). You can even give a detailed example of how shitty your job is and how you think unionization would work to address the issues. Anything helps! :3
Employers can take PTO rules court.
From searching on Google it says that they’re still required to abide by federal law, but I just wanted to double check. Any links would be appreciated just so that I can have them on hand. From what I’ve read they can be exempt from state law, which means that they don’t have to abide by labor laws if I’m understanding correctly? I’m broke as hell and pretty desperate so I can’t be too picky, but I’ve reached a point in life where I will do exactly as the job description says, nothing more and nothing less. If they want me to do more then they pay me more. I’ll never go above and beyond for a company because they won’t do the same for me, and it’s been shown time and time again. So at this point I want to know every right that I have as an employee…
