I could use some thoughts on this

I had a conversation with a recruiter. The recruiter told me the company was doing a confidential job search and hiding the job location by saying it's in nearby suburbs because if they listed the actual location it would be pretty clear who the job is with an what the position is. They're doing this because they want to get someone hired so they can fire the current employee. Red flag?

[NY] Need some advice

I am writing this letter because on Saturday, February 11th, a horrible incident happened at work. Since this day, I have had really bad anxiety. I was requested by Popular Rental company at the airport to be permanent Rover on Saturdays from 3 to midnight. I accepted the request because I enjoyed working with customers directly. Well, at about 10:40, there was a customer that I was checking in and he was explaining to me that his car was dirty on pickup. He told me that he found three Cheerios behind his seat and some in his arm rest. I told the customer I was very sorry it didn’t meet his standards and that I would note it for him. I finished checking him in and he asked if he could get something off his bill. I told him the manager had left for the day but he could voice…

how can I enforce bathroom rules when its a safety issue and management doesn’t care??

how do I get my building to follow bathroom rules?? I work in a warehouse and our bathroom is in the back of it and not supposed to be a public bathroom. I have expressed this several times to upper management as the warehouse can get pretty packed and dangerous. Also customers tend to piss everywhere and not give a fuck about keeping our bathrooms clean. They're totally fine on truck days as those are 100% no customers allowed day since we are unloading and walking around everywhere. Only we use the restrooms. I'm the one to put a chain up every truck day to make sure 95% of people don't just walk in. I hate customers coming back into the employee work area and thinking its something they have all access to in general. I've had to tell customers that the products being sold are out on the floor…

Two weeks? Why not just not show up?

I’ve heard a lot about people saying two weeks is useless. I agree, but why even give an employer any notice or confirmation at all? Is it to get benefits or complete exiting paths of some sort? Especially bad employers, why not just ghost them?

Fired…for mental illness? Do I have a case?

So I had been in and out of hospitals dealing w some serious mental health issues. I was involuntary committed several times in the last year. Each tine, I did all legal paperwork etc but they were getting tired of me missing days. I had to go back to the hospital again last week. I was cleared but my life was hectic. (I live in MI, but was stuck in Indiana) I told boss I'd report to work last Weds. I didn't make it due to some other serious outside issues that I won't even get into right now.. They fired me that day and gave me my last check. I filed for unemployment already, but do I have a case for wrongful termination? Is it worth it to call NLRB/state equivalent? I liked this company a lot, but now I have no income and I refuse to resort to…

Junior dev got promoted to technical lead of senior devs – PLEASE HELP MY DEAR FRIENDS!

Hello, Something so ridiculous happened at the IT firm I am working at, that I can't even… I and 3 other senior devs were recruited at one IT firm in December along with one junior dev – all fine so far (all of us are working remotely). We were just doing some basic stuff, like bug fixing as the development of the new product is supposed to start in march and a month ago there was a first onsite party taking place, unfortunately, I and 3 other devs could not join ( I was getting married that day) and only junior dev went. During the onsite party, apparently, this junior dev got to know our product owner ( the person who recruited us) VERY WELL ( the idiot confessed that they slept together). And last week we received the news that this JUNIOR DEV will be our technical lead. Me…

Is AI replacing white collar jobs more likely than blue collar?

Not sure if this topic really fits here, but I feel like this community may have some ideas to share on the topic. What made me think about this was the dude who wanted to use ChatGPT as his defense attorney. That got me thinking, from a logistic standpoint, replacing physical labor well would not only require AI, but also potentially overly expensive hardware to actually do the labor that could be well out of reach for a lot to afford. Things like billing, HR, filing, data imput, etc.; typically considered white collar jobs seem much more easily replaced by AI. It seems to me that that could be more affordable by a lot of companies than Robotics and AI to replace low-level to highly skill based labor positions. And I'm talking everything from bathroom attendants to masons with that. I feel like the additional aspect of hardware puts making…

Director with salary, was required to work/be on-call 24/7 and worked 7 days a week for 9 months – any labor law issues or am I just SOL and stupid for allowing this?

Throw away account because my main one is too easy to trace back to me. I am the director of a home health agency. Due to short staffing that happened right before I took over, I was the only nurse that worked there for about nine months. This meant I was on call 24/7, expected to see all of the nursing patients, and needed to respond to calls within 20 minutes, etc. I am normally in a salary position, but did get paid $2/hour on-call outside of my normal Monday through Friday schedule. When I would see a patient on the weekends, I would get compensated per visit, but it ends up being less than my “hourly pay” would have been with drive time. I was working an average of 50 to 60 hours a week. I did the math and if I were paid like the regular hourly/pay per…
