Company Loopholes Allowing Misclassification Of Workers

My partner and I have worked for a very well known company for YEARS yet we’re classified as freelancers. The company even coined the term “permalancers.” Essentially everyone else on our team is staff. They get benefits, PTO, sick days, etc. We don’t get anything. The upcoming holidays will be unpaid days off for me because the offices are closed. This company and several others in the area have essentially created BS shell companies to make it look like we’re hired 3rd party contractors even though everyone else at the company works the same hours on the same projects I do. There are even several individuals in my department with the same title as me. How can I be freelance for 4+ years? How can my “contract” be automatically renewed every 6 months? Why is this Fortune 500 company not required to give me vacation days? Health insurance? Bereavement leave?
