Decided to do a few calculations

So the other day I overheard a Conversation. An employee was complaining to what I assume was his boss about his salary saying that he can’t live off of 9 dollars an hour and was asking for a higher wage and his boss said that they couldn’t do that and to “just get rid of your internet”. This made me curious and so I did did some math with the base needs for one person. This included rent, bills for electricity, water, and Wi-Fi, and enough to pay for food.

Everything is an average found from websites that seemed trustworthy and used .gov websites as much as possible.

After finding everything and converting every thing to an hourly cost, I added everything up and made sure to factor in the fact that you don’t work 24/7/365. With all of this, the total was $13.25 an hour. I will add that Wi-Fi was only a small fraction of this cost, so no getting rid of internet wouldn’t do enough and the current 7.25 min wage only completes 54.71% of these needs, not including enough to save up for extra use.

So no minimum wage is not fine, who could have guessed.
