I work at a tissue bank where donors are delivered and have to be refrigerated until processed. I get the “Hey man at the end of the day can I talk to you, you’re not in trouble.”
After pulling 56 hour weeks, doing more work than I’m paid for I thought “Holy shit I’m going to get a raise!” Nope, we walk into HR and he slides a paper over that says “Written Warning – Demotion”. Wouldn’t even hear me out..
I message my manager about what could have happened and I get “I tried to justify it but couldn’t come up with anything and 5 donors expired”.
Turns out doing 5 minutes of looking at the data those donors never came on my shift. I go to the manager that claimed they “tried to justify it” and being professional I sit down and say I’m just trying to understand so I start drawing out what happened.. I don’t get half way through my points when I look up and their face drops.. I get “I am so sorry. I am so sorry. I didn’t even take that into consideration”. Then goes on to tell me how much I’m loved here, I’m one of the best workers, my positivity is amazing..
Then “I don’t know if we can offer your position back to you I’m going to talk to the director immediately” (they obviously gave it to someone else already).
You take my position, money, and pride of “one of our best workers” even when you recognized you made a mistake. What an absolute spit in the face
