Antiwork

Every Saturday, he would pretend to be sick and miss work. So I chose to not schedule him on Saturday anymore, but now he’s making a big deal out of it…

For about two years, I had a part time employee who always seemed to have an excuse to miss work on Saturdays. I checked the computer records and found out that he had a very low attendance rate on that day. I tried to talk to him about his reasons for always being sick and missing work on Saturdays, but he never gave me a clear answer. So I decided to just stop the hassle and just remove him from the Saturday schedule altogether… The next time he came to work, he saw the new schedule and got very angry. He asked me why I took away his Saturdays and said he wanted them back. I was puzzled by his reaction and asked another manager to join me in a meeting with him. He said he was afraid of losing his job and that he needed to work on Saturdays……

So I guess that the moral of this story is that he didn’t appreciate what he had until he lost it? Maybe Saturdays were more important to him than he realized? Lol…
