I moved across state and took a new job in my field. I'm not making what I was but it's an acceptable wage for now. A guy I work with is making 7/hr less than me and had his 90 day review. He was denied a raise and was super pissed.
I make 25 and he makes 18. Now I have to say that I have 30 years experience and am being trained for a lead role while he has little experience but for right now we pretty much do the same job.
On Monday, he came to me and asked how much they hired me in for. I didn't lie and told him that I was making 25 but stressed that I had tons of experience and that I wasn't taking any health benefits from the company as I get them from my spouse.
Well, he obviously brought it up to HR or the next up because HR called me today to 'check in' on my first month and to see how it was going. Sure, fine, great.
The second thing was to ask me not to divulge my wage going forward. They stated that they know they can't tell me not to but to please not say anything in the future.
These companies are fucking clown shoes. You couldn't give the guy a 1$ bump, a mere 2100$ a year and you pissed him off. Now, the cat is out of the bag and he's even more pissed. Your secrets aren't my problem lady stop being so cheap to your good employees and pay them. This company makes over 36M a year and I know they can afford it.
Anyway, rant over. I don't think I'm going to stick around and will be pursuing other employment in the area.
