Hey guys,
I'm (F19) feeling pretty upset about something that happened at my part-time job yesterday. I work at a cafe near my campus, and I am not sure how to react to what my boss did.
I was working my shift and it was really busy. I was doing my best to keep up with the orders, but I made a mistake with one customer's drink. I apologized and offered to make a new one, but the customer was really rude and demanded that I give them a refund instead.
I called my boss over to handle the situation, and at first, he seemed understanding. He apologized to the customer and offered them a refund, but then he turned to me and said that I would have to pay for it out of my own pocket.
I was shocked and upset. I'm a broke college student and I can't afford to lose that much money. When I protested, my boss got really angry and told me that I should have been more careful. It was humiliating to be scolded in front of the other customers.
Now I'm not sure what to do. I have never seen my boss talking like that to my male coworkers and I need the money from this job to pay for my expenses, but I don't want to work for someone who would treat me like this. I'm also worried that this might happen again in the future. Do you guys think I should quit or try to talk to my boss about it? I'd really appreciate any advice or support you could give me.
