I asked my boss for the 3rd off.

I'm having a casual conversation with my boss about what days we get off for fourth of July. He said definitely the fourth and maybe the third but he has to check. He then says he definitely won't be here the third since he has an early flight the next day. I told him I'll be in Denver on the third and he has the audacity to say, “brilliant, if your work is done I don't care if you're here on the third.” The nerve of him to let me take the day off like it's no big deal. The same thing happened when I told him I was taking 3 weeks off in September for my Europe vacation. When I asked for the time off he asked, “whats the vacation for, wait it's none of my business.” He just told me to send everyone an email that I'll be…

The same thing happened when I told him I was taking 3 weeks off in September for my Europe vacation. When I asked for the time off he asked, “whats the vacation for, wait it's none of my business.” He just told me to send everyone an email that I'll be gone and to make sure I take care of any loose ends. Needless to say my boss is a rather amazing guy and his attitude makes me care about the work. The bastard. /s

I'm just really appreciative of my boss and his attitude towards work. At my previous job my boss was a fucking dick who would give us shit if we weren't here at 7am which was the start time. Keep in mind we are salaried engineers so why the fuck does it matter if our work gets done. He's the kind of boss who belongs in most antiwork posts. It was thanks to his shitty attitude that I decided to leave my previous place and found this job. The camel that broke the camel's back was when I was working on a super hot project and my coworker asked me some questions about another project, which I also worked on but it wasn't the super hot holy project. Our boss stood behind us as we talked about work for like 5 minutes. After the conversation was over he sent an email to the engineering department that no one was to bother me, because I needed to finish the hot project. All my work was done entirely on the computer so I easily could have done it from home, but of course we were all ordered to come back to the office. Basically I had to be in the office and no one could bother. After that incident I went home and my job hunt begun. After I put in my two weeks notice my boss was fired a week later. He left before I did since another engineer decided to quit because of our shit boss. Sometimes it takes an asshole to help you find the right job.
