I was a temp worker a few years ago, and I ended up being “hired on” by the company after 2 months. You technically had to wait 3 months but I got hired on early with a raise.
Right now I'm a temp for a different company, the agency told me you had to work 1000 hours to be hired on, which is about 6 months or so. During orientation we were told the company was on a hiring freeze, but it should be lifted in the next month or two. That was early February
I'm questioning how true that is because one of my coworkers has been there since September and he is STILL a temp. And he is NOT the only one. Apparently a girl on 2nd shift has been there for an entire year and they will not hire her on.
90% of us are Temps. As a temp you get no PTO, vacation, paid holidays, etc. I do have insurance through the temp agency but that is all they offer.
I'm getting a feeling that the company doesn't wanna hire Temps so they don't need to offer us anything. It's incredibly unmotivating. I do like this job but lately I'm feeling crappy about the situation. I want PTO, paid holidays, etc. It makes me consider finding a new job that actually somewhat values me.
If it comes to it, I will legit say hire me on or I quit. It probably won't matter though because us Temps are highly disposable. I'm feeling a little bit exploited and it sucks.
Edit:
This is a warehouse job btw
