I was working in a cafe, legally anything over 5/5.5 hours requires a 30 minute break. I asked my manager how we go about lunch breaks and he said we don’t do them when we’re busy. He never gave me a set time to finish either so if I was being picked up by my partner she could be waiting for up to an hour after I was told I could go once I finished one last thing. my manager could see last shift that I was hungry and I mentioned it, I started getting weak and forgetful and he told me to go home rather annoyed. now he’s not sending through the roster for this week and I’m pretty sure I got fired for asking for a lunch break.
Edit: my usual shifts were 6-7.5 hours long. there were also some issues with payment not being in on the day it was supposed to but that got eventually sorted but not how he said it would.
