A week ago I reported an injury, as per company policy.
I was assured that this enormous company doesn’t fire people for reporting injuries and that safety is their #1 priority. The senior project manager even came to talk to me and assure me that accommodations would be made and that she was exited to have a pregnant person on site. She even got personal and told me about her experience as a pregnant person out in the field.
I went back to work, and things were getting hostile from my journeyman. I let my superintendent that working in that area wasn’t going to help me heal, I was assured he was working on moving me to a place where I’d be able to have modified work.
I went to see a doctor Monday, I was switched to modified work with a doctors note. Everything seemed good, I was actively working and keeping within doctors orders. My boss had just taken note of my upcoming prenatal appointments.
A few hours go by, and this man from the main office shows up and tells me he has my final paycheck and paperwork for me to sign.
The termination letter says it’s for “inability to perform duties due to non-occupational restriction”.
I filled in the signature like with “refusal”.
I called my union, I was told they don’t handle workers comp, to seek counsel. And that I can’t be dispatched for any other work, until I have work release.
