As a European I read a lot on this sub about the labor conditions in the US. While I don't doubt that a lot of aspect about it (employment at-will, limited paid vacation days and parental leave, etc.) are problematic it's also true that trash labor conditions mostly hit lower paying jobs. If they care about your employment enough to pay more the complementary benefits will usually also be more worthwhile (e.g. medical insurance, money going into a pension fund).
Several of the more glaring stories I've read concern employees in the service sector working in stores etc. And sometimes discuss the minimum wage as well.
That being said you can also read stories on here from software developers and engineers but I can't shake the feeling that this sub mostly represents people with wages below the national average.
I can't stress enough that I don't want to dismiss the problems that they face but I am curious to what degree you all think this is true. And additionally, to what degree the higher-paid employees in the US suffer from the same problems as low to minimum wage workers.
Essentially, is it as awful for everyone?
