Is there a playbook for employers, on exploitive tactics?

Browsing this sub I see so many examples of employers pulling the same stunts, like trying to get people to quit instead of firing them, or ordering them not to discuss wages, or adding a line to a restaurant receipt about how a portion of the cost is for employee “wellness” . And then I saw the post where somebody was giving a presentation to business students, and told them their salespeople needed to have a lot of debts and commitments, in order to keep them working as hard as possible. So are all these shady strategies widely disseminated at management seminars and shared in industry and investor conference calls, in some kind of cabal like way? Or are we simply seeing a bunch of independent but like-minded sociopaths, coming up with these ideas on their own, plus maybe copycats?
