Long time lurker first time posting, on mobile.
I’ve seen this situation a couple times in regards to pay. I was told I’ll make X amount but Y amount is gratuity and shows on the paystub as so. But you’ll always get X amount. At my new employment the manager said that the Y amount can be taken away if we do not show loyalty or are not flexible with scheduling, he can take it away if he deems it necessary. He told me about an employee who had theirs cut and “they know why”. I thought it was incredibly weird the first time I saw it but now I feel like it’s absurd. He’s holding Y over our heads to behave. I’m wondering if this is common place or becoming more common.
