Hey r/Antiwork,
Recently, I've been mulling over a persistent thought – are there more folks grappling with the same realities?
Going through the posts here, and seeing the constant struggle against the traditional work norms, I can't help but think: Is this all there is to life? Have we just accepted the standard 40-hour work week as an inevitable reality?
Isn't it strange? We're living in an age of astounding technological innovation, yet we find ourselves more tied to our jobs than ever before.
What if, instead of endlessly pushing for job creation, we started to celebrate job elimination due to efficient automation? Isn't that a sign of progress, of us moving towards a life where work doesn't dominate our existence?
Am I alone in envisioning an alternative world? A world where life isn't synonymous with work, where we can genuinely enjoy our free time without worry. Where housing, food, and utility bills aren't a constant stress because these basic needs are provided for.
I'm not suggesting a revolution or proposing a new political party. I'm simply keen to start a discussion that challenges the norm and imagines a world that could be different.
So, the question is – am I alone, or are there others here ready to have a serious discussion about this? Is there more to life than this work-obsessed cycle we're in? Let's talk about it.
