It is’nt HR’s fault we live in a working nightmare

Hello all! I post this after seeing a lot of traction on another post about someone in HR spewing some nonsensical rules. It is not the fault of HR things are like this With little surprise, I work in HR myself, still a young career, and I've been dealing with some corporate nonsense everyday. I loved the idea of rethinking work as it is an imposing aspect of one's life and I wanted to add my two cents to it. I was a fool, kinda. The system is inherently difficient. With little surprise, I work in HR myself, still a young career, and I've been dealing with some corporate nonsense everyday. I loved the idea of rethinking work as it is an imposing aspect of one's life and I wanted to add my two cents to it. I was a fool, kinda.

The system is inherently difficient. It builds upon an infinite accumulation of wealth. Capitalism is the true problem.

Corporations only want one thing : wealth

In a perfect capitalist world, an organization's only goal is to cumulate wealth and to be profitable to its shareholders, owners, or whomever have the reins. There are multiple ways for a company to accumulate wealth. Sadly, one of them is to cut on expenses. The most expensive thing for almost every single organization is human ressources; employees. Depending on where you live, only some laws protects employees, but even if those laws are robust or the system is very thought of (like the Flexicurity Model), employees are always going to get the shorter end of the stick.

That's where HR comes in

What someone in HR does is basicaly cope with the inhumanity of the system, and then try to desperetly ease the pain for those living through it. Sure, some stop trying to rationalize this after some time and others are far from qualified for this which leads to shitty human management. Some HRs are way closer to upper management than others and some are'nt even from inside the corporation but are hired from a firm and worst, some don't even have HR. At its core, HR's job is to make work less painful and to normalize it, either by using more or less inovative methods or by sticking to the fringe laws already established.

We're all a product of society

As someone in HR myself, I often spew some nonsensical bullcrap, but I sure as hell try to make it easier for everyone else. It is oftenly composed of fighting against the tide of upper management… and then losing.

All of that to say that yeah, HR kinda sucks and most of them are'nt really your allies. But they are'nt the problem.

Don't forget to unionize your workplace, these are the real allies, peace! ️
