So I have had many thoughts this morning about people who bash others for job hopping or having a gap in their resume.
Why do companies do this? Do people not realize that job hopping every 2 to 4 years increases education, experience, opportunities, and even SALARY? Like do companies not realize that people also move? Maybe somebody is in college and worked a job in the field for a year while going to school then moved back home or moved to another town? Why punish somebody for making their life better or taking the next opportunity that comes up? At 5+ years in one position the market literally passes you by if you are not getting at least 6% to 8% yearly raises. I literally was told by a family member that 8% is a promotion….LIKE ARE YOU DEAD SERIOUS?
Or what if somebody needed to take off a year or two from work because you had a baby or got sick? And now are ready to get back into the work force again? Why punish them for life just happening? oh yeah we also literally went through a pandemic and a slow down in our economy and I have heard hiring managers literally ask why you had a gap in your resume when you got laid off from COVID.
I swear we live in a reality TV show….I don't even know what to make of our world anymore.
Rant over. lol
