I generally have had a good relationship with my boss. I cover management shifts and closing shifts when he needs very often as well as doing a bulk of the food prep, and we've always had a cordial relationship. If I said I was sick, he took me at my word, but I've always gotten notes per our company policy.
Recently I've been the sickest I've ever been in my life. Today is day 6 of a stomach bug or something, and throughout 6 days I've probably only been able to consume (without vomiting) less than 1000 calories. I have been completely unable to focus on anything other than the pain and nausea.
I've been keeping him updated more than I'm even obligated to, and now he's very aggressively demanding a doctor's note and implied that I would be fired without one. Obviously, I have one– I actually have three, all from different trips to the ER.
I just feel disrespected. I told him I was having the worst time of my life, and that pang of anxiety from being doubted just felt like someone kicking me while I was down. He usually wishes me well, and I work my ass of for him.
Oh well.
TLDR: Boss who's always been respectful to me implied I was lying about being sick and sent me an aggressive text message demanding a note or else I'd be fired. I've never been more sick in my life and now I'm just sad and sick.
