My coworker crashed. Boss told me to say I was driving (he illegal) now I’m fired

The boss told me to tell the police I was driving and I felt I had to. Now he is firing me and it's a big thing. What do I do? The driver was an illegal id wager he didn't speak English. The bosss was white who told me to do it. Idk what to do
