My girlfriend arrived to her doctor’s appointment three minutes late, got a late fee and didn’t even see doctor.

Is this something that just happens? To me paying $25 and not even seeing a doctor seems like robbery at that point. (Sorry if this is the wrong sub for this, but r/medicine didn’t allow me to post this.)
