Hey fellow Redditors, I came here to ask what I can possibly do about the shitty situation we are in. My wife went on Maternity leave from her job on June 10th. Her job was supposed to start paying her maternity leave when her first check was normally due. They didn’t. We contact them and get sent in loops. HR would only tell us that it was her managers job to figure out, but all her manager had to do was send in the copies of the paperwork, which she did. Well we all currently know what day it is, and she still hasn’t receive any compensation. We’ve lost our place as we live paycheck by paycheck and had to move in with my dad, and couldn’t keep up on our car insurance payments so that’s out too. Now our monthly phone bills are coming up and since our income got cut in half, we aren’t going to be able to afford that either if we want to be able to feed and take care of our newborn because WIC only gave her 1 can of formula for the 1st 2 months.
I’m sorry I’m getting off topic because I’m just so blown away at how badly she/we are getting fkd off. But this isn’t the main reason I came here. She’s now back to work and we got an email this morning saying they “need” access to ALL of her medical records from the day of conception, all the way up to 2 years after our baby is born, in order for them to pay her. Even if she quits they will still have access. Is that even legal for them to require access to her current and future medical information that has no relation to the birth of our baby in order to get the money that we should have received 2 months ago??
Edit: just read all the fine print in the paperwork. They are claiming they want to hold an “investigation” to make sure her “disability claims” aren’t faked as if she could fake a pregnancy belly for 9 months to her bosses and the store owner.
