He was a decent guy and he had a role in the decision making for my hire. he was pretty big on Building a Relationship with Team and Caring About Team Building Events which I understand from a “this a family” perspective, but the reality is that we are not family and our co-workers need to be kept at an arms distance.
Unfortunately these things happens and I even mentioned to another coworker in my team about a month ago how although I understood his optimism about the role, things can change and feeling comfortable is a mistake which we eventually pay the price for.
Company loyality is a myth. If you are hired for a position, there is always someone above you that will have a hand of control in your personal life.
I'm still not even past probation yet, but this reminded me that I need to keep applying. That is the reality of our modern day working class.
Tl;Dr: Boss got fired. Need to keep applying for other roles. Company loyality never meant a damn thing
