Owner of Glaswegian music venue liquidates business in response to striking workers

The 13th Note is a music venue in Glasgow that has been allowed by ownership to fall into a state of disrepair and managed decline, with workers forming a union with 100% workforce density outside of upper management. The workers filed a formal grievance in February 2023 documenting numerous health and safety and legal violations, alongside a lack of provisions leading to an inability to functionally perform their duties, which ownership refused to adequately address. This situation led to the workers voting unanimously for four weekends of strike action, of which one week has taken place with great public support. Ownership agreed today to meet with union representatives and ACAS to negotiate, but only hours prior to the meeting, informed media of liquidation before informing union members.
