I have never been treated like this in my whole life. I can't believe this. Please take the time to read if you can, but there's a tldr at the bottom. I'm a college student, and I was hired as a seasonal part-time sales associate at a home improvement store. I've worked at this store for four days, but I worked at another store for upwards of three years. The first two shifts were primarily training, and I finally got on the floor for the past two days. I was told to shadow an old employee who's been working there for twelve some years. I had no problem with that, as it seemed to just be procedure. However, after my first shift it became clear that this guy was going to be difficult. He didn't explain anything that we were required to do, and would just complain that “it used…
Are unions bad?
Had my orientation at Walmart today (not excited at all about it and it's just so I don't have a gap in my resume) and the guy giving the shtick about being hardworking and how he's done mostly every job in the store said unions are bad and they only want their union fees and don't actually listen to your problems. I almost laughed out loud cause it reminded me of the off-the-wall shit I read from stories on this sub. It's only paying $13/hr and he said this WM location is better than a union because they “have 24 hours to come up with a solution to the problem”. Which brings me to my question of, are unions bad?
Workplace competition
Saw this at a Dominos bathroom, crazy.
Might not get a job
So for context I just finished my masters degree in Cybersecurity in December, I'm regretting the time spent because it seems like I won't be getting a job in that area any time soon, but that's not the point of this post. I have applied to well over 150 jobs since December and mostly either ghosted or rejected. I don't have experience in Cybersecurity, just IT tech support. One of my jobs was working for Verizon in the Fios tech support call center. I hated that job, the managers were fine, the other people on the phones were generally good people, but the customers were horrible. I call that job concentrated hate. I say that to everyone who asks because its the truth, there really is no point in sugarcoating it. So now to the job I'm probably not gonna get. The one interview out of all these jobs has…
New boss is lying
So I am two weeks into this new job and still going through the orientation period. They have been preaching to us about how great this place is and how great the pay is. Then today the tone changed and this really depressing person gives us the real story. Ive been doing this long enough to know this person is depressed due to the job and the stories they are telling are true and horrifically normal for this field. Im already trying to find an exit. Any thoughts? Kinda need this job pay wise. Also this is a good entry level opportunity to get my foot into another field.
Pretty sure aliens aren't involved but I could be wrong, though it does nail some pretty good points. One of which, being as we all know, is that certain human beings would sell anyone or anything to make a profit. Even if it does kill the planet and everyone else. I could really use a pair of those sunglasses right about now!

I am set to return to work tomorrow after a week’s vacation and I was informed by a co-worker that our department was downsizing by 20% starting with volunteers apparently. I work in mortgage for a pretty large bank in the US. A bank that saw record breaking profits over the pandemic, and in response overhired staff to keep up with the temporary boom in demand. And now, the market is adjusting and biting them right in the ass, but it is us who are going to suffer for their poor decisions. Anybody else in this boat? I know Wells Fargo had an article published a few weeks ago in regards to this, so I was just curious to see if other companies were making the same mistakes. Thanks in advance 😀
