So I'm 37 years old, male, no kids, single, live in a paid off one bedroom apartment and have 2 paid off cars. I really hate my job, & it's getting worse meaning I can't bring myself to work. My side hustle is only bringing enough money to pay for about 25% of my monthly expenses. Thinking of resigning, cash out my pension which will last me 3 years if my side hustle income doesn't change. What do you think? I mean if I fail then only I will suffer the consequences.
I am so done – update
Read original post heree So I had a one on one with manager and now, they have changed my job description. I am now supposed to do all the work they were assigning me yesterday coz that is what is expected of my role and part of my job description. I asked my manager 'why wasnt I involved in so n so when so n so is directly related to me' N her reply was 'oh you werent online' This just keeps getting worse and worse. Anybody have any job leads in ecommerce. Please let me know. I am in Canada, but ecommerce is mostly remote, so open to work anywhere. It sad that I worked so hard and this is what I get, not a change of title, but change of job description. Thank you.
So sick of being told my wages aren't a reflection of how much my employer values my work and my contribution to the team. They really think they're compensating for low standards of living by evoking a feeling of “you matter.” If I matter so much, you value me so much, you respect me so much, why would you knowingly pay me less than my value. You simply cannot value and honor a person if they are giving you most of the value they give you for free. Being aware that you're getting more value from me than you give to me in return, and thanking me for it when you know I either have to give my value to someone or starve, doesn't make it any less exploitative.
I'm thinking full time nomads, boondockers that kind of thing? How to get started, how to finance it. I'm done spending all my energy on things that aren't worth anything in the long run. I want a life that's worth living.
Returning Work Equipment?
Hey all! Looking for a bit of advice/any experience you have around returning a companies equipment after quitting/being terminated? I was let go from my work from home position in March 2022. No mention of how to return equipment so I asked my previous supervisor who told me I would receive boxes to my home to return the laptop/monitor and stuff. It's been two months since then with no contact from my previous employer. I've received everything I needed from them (final pay, pension info, transferring benefits, tax forms, etc.) and have no reason to have any contact with them moving forward. However nobody from the company has said anything about returning the equipment. It's currently just taking up space on my floor in the corner. Does anyone have any experience with this? What happens if I were to discard/throw out the equipment? I'm in Canada BTW. Thanks for any…
So when do we actually do this thing?
I'm tired of hearing story after story about how people are just trying to make ends meet and corporations seem to fuck us over and over and over again. I'm tired of having to wait every two to four years to vote for people who will bicker and get paid off and nothing gets done for any of us. I'm tired of being told to “wait” for equality. I'm tired of being told “trust the process.” The oligarchs control the politicians, they control the media, they control the healthcare, they control the judges, they control the prisons, they control the education, they control every FUCKING thing. They lie, they cheat, they steal, they exploit, they kill. And then they do their best to pacify us with minute raises and “social justice representation.” The right to simply be a human being hangs in the balance. There is plenty of money to…
The Reason I mention this quote is because of increase renting worldwide. In some countries (Palestine, Equitorial Guinea, Laos, Etc) rent is not allowed, and homeownership is more common and widespreading. On top of this, if someone else owns where you live, they have a particular power over you. If a nation is truly to be free, Housing must be provided to the people with the residents being the sole owners. It is absolutely disturbing how in many country there is rent for housing. So why is it not done anywhere else? well, it is the drivers and beneficiaries of the oppressive trade. The Landlords have more power than anyone, because they own the homes. If anyone in any country is to do something, you first need to take power from landlords and give it to the people.
Call Centers
A great coworker I had got moved to another position which eventually was downsized. Instead of letting him go and collect unemployment, they are keeping him employed saying they are “looking for another position to move him into” but he’s not scheduled any hours (AKA not being paid). They’re basically trying to force him to quit so they don’t have to pay the unemployment tax. I think I found him a new position but jfc am I sick of this crap when companies like this tout “people first” values. I’m interested to know other peoples crap experiences in the “outsourcing”industry.
