At 30 years old, 10 years of experience from big box retailers to distribution centers in various roles from Inventory Manager to Operations Auditing, I was offered $17.50/Hr. In an upscale area and a job posting that advertised $18-20, I was hoping more towards the $20 range. At the interview I was notified of $16-18 with experience and I ended up with a call later with an offer at $17.50. I haggled and they were clear they weren’t willing to negotiate. I was pretty disappointed they went so low especially with how much experience I have and cost of living today. I start next week but have gotten a few offers from other companies and city jobs so I don’t see myself making it to the first day. I felt pretty discouraged to see how low they went with pay especially with my vast retail experience I have and I…
I would see people coming so naturally I'd stop what I was doing and wait for them, make sure I was ready. So I do that, then the guy says “looks like you're just standing around doing nothing!” I simply say, “I saw you coming.” He said something like “ah that's fair.” A good few weeks later, same routine. I'm dealing with price tags, I see someone coming, so I stop with the tags and get ready for them to arrive. It's the same guy of course. He says the same thing, “looks like you're just standing here doing nothing!” I remembered this guy but he didn't remember me. But after he said that, this time I said jokingly, “well you know how it is, minimum wage minimum effort.” And he lost all joy/kindness in his face and tone after I said that. He grumbled “a jobs a job” and…

Can my work reduce my hours in CA?
My work scgedule that was posted to me this weekend shows that my hours got cut from 40 hours down to 32 hours for this monday to friday period. I was not informed of this hour cut until my scheduling app posted the schedule for this week on the weekend. I am an employee that is paid hourly. I work in customer service as acookie baker. I want to know for certain if this is allowed by my california employer. The business is a cookie franchise. Please help me get my hours back 🥲
Should I feel guilty..?
This has been an ongoing concern/issue for me for a long time. Feeling guilty about calling off work. Once and a while I just play hookie usually about once a month and call off work. Sometimes I have enough PTO hours to cover it and sometimes not (unpaid). Either way, I need a break. I’ve been reprimanded / threatened by my bosses about being wrote up because I call out or am late sometimes. Should I feel guilt?
Most companies are not honest as contractors. The contract work is geared towards how many sits on can fill. I had my run with a few of these companies and yes i may be butt hurt by the way they separated from me. I notice large companies like Amazon, eBay, Pay pal, FedEx, UPS, gray hound, amtrack and other companies are getting away with not refunding or paying out to those of us that are hard working. Because they think you don't have enough money from a law suit. And it is hard to get enough people in on a class action law suit and lawyers that want to take on these large companies. They have no legal ramification for the hard robbery that they do to the customer. In a world where the customer and the employees are the wheels on keeping their pockets lines. IT is all a…
