boss said he’d give me a promotion, but he gave it to somebody else when he said he wouldn’t. what the fuck?

to make a long story short, my boss interviewed me for a customer service leader position and told me that out of all the interviews he did, mine was by far the best and that he would give me the position if i could get better with working the features of our customer service lane and at interacting with customers (i have social anxiety). he even told me that until then, he would not give the position to anybody else. long story short, i did get better – WAY better – and he even noticed and acknowledged it too, but he still gave the position to somebody else. i'm not even gonna lie, i feel hurt. i get it, this coworker might be better or whatever, but i was told i would be given the position on MULTIPLE different accounts and like, months ago too. i also picked up extra…

The U.S Public School System: the biggest oppressor of the 21st Century

Public Schooling in the U.S is the worst tool capitalist parasites use. From day 1 we are hammered with the bleak prospect of having to work. Deadlines and due dates, assignments with no meaning or value in life. It just prepares you for being a coorperate slave. Take recess, for example. Where I live recess in elementary schools is only 30 minutes. In middle schools lunch is also only 30 minutes. The same with high school. Then right back to work for the next 4 hours. And if you even dare speak out, they tell you, “You're here to learn”. Learn what? Some random formula? Some stupid book written 500 years ago? And not only that, the principal gets to enjoy a nice office, break room, couch and TV. Meanwhile I have to sit in a room filled with future wage slaves who dismiss any idea of change because the…

Boss just doesn’t seem to get it.

He's a man, who is doing EXTREMELY well financially. A $1.5m house, 3 cars, 2 ATVs, the list goes on. He says: “It's hard to find people who actually want to work.” I said: “No, it's because an entire generation of people are sick and tired of being manipulated, abused, and treated horribly.” I worked retail from '05 to '18 when I was hired by my boss. Our business has exploded. $800k in sales in 2018, $900k in 2019, $1.5m in 2020, $2.5m in 2021. We need more help. But my boss doesn't understand that there's 0 chance of finding help unless we can prove to any potential employee that their contribution will be worth their time. As the “Operations Manager” I'm just about running the show with ensuring jobs are scheduled, done, and coordinated – as well as doing them myself. I am willing to bring on anyone that…

I’m about ready to quit my job

I know this may sound silly at first but I'm tired and I'm stressed, I just want someone to understand me. So as you all know, this weekend is mothers day, and all the stores are packed. I was the only bagger scheduled for my shift with 5 registers open, this happens every day I work (only weekends but still). I barely even got a break today. They wait until there are literally no carts to ask me to go out, and it's not even asking it's more telling me. I run returns back when they ask, I put baskets away when they ask, I dont ever say no, I work my ass off there, and come home exhausted. I dont get paid enough to do this shit. I feel that my kindness and never wanting to say no is letting them take advantage of me, even if it's just…

If workers seized the means of production not just for fairness but also to innovate and improve means of production, now that would scale and require free speech to suggest new ideas which is required for innovation. In the US only the rich file patents.

Leaving the cubicle farm

There are 2 parts to this story, but I’ll keep it brief. 1st- left law school and became a claims adjuster for a large insurance company. It was a 30 mile commute in traffic and had to wear a suit, no taking off a jacket, even though we never saw clients. Imagine a Home Depot but all cubicles, no clients, ever. I couldn’t believe this was my life after deciding to walk away from law school and 100k in Debt. 2nd- someone realizes I know about cars, so they give me company car and allow me to wfh, going from junkyard to body shop, etc… it was incredible! But then- new boss comes and says everyone back in the office. Back to the cube. Ugh… a bunch of us met up on a Saturday for bloody Mary’s lunch, and then went to see “office space” at the theatre. 15 quit the…

We want a change

I strongly suggest everyone in here to join r/revolution. Numbers are small now, but not for lack of people who are fed up. They’re thinking of making a website to host on so Reddit won’t shut it down. Please join. This is the first step to change in this country run by the rich.
