I just saw this come across my desk. New charges were filed against Yellowstone National Park concessionaire (there are two — Xanterra and Delaware North). It looks like these were for not rehiring folks that were fired in 2020 for concerted union activity. Godspeed to the poor folks trying to fight this labor rights fighting juggernaut!
You can't strengthen one aspect of society (the State, as social democrats, Leninist and reformists have it) at the expense of the other. It simply doesn't work that way. A strong State depends on Capital. The State evolved to benefit Capital. Humanity rather must become totally conscious of these interrelations in order to control them. Marx thought that Capital news essentially a sentient organism – that the economy literally had a certain degree of awareness. He was probably right. Humanity must kill this awareness and substitute human control.
I’m 19 and I’m home for the summer after a year of college. I’m wanting to do summer school to get more credits. My parents agreed I could focus on school if I apply to one job. There’s a Greek restaurant near my house that I’ve never seen a single person walk into ever. I assumed they were struggling and wouldn’t hire me, so I’d ask them and get rejected. I walk in at 6 PM and it’s empty as usual. I tell the only guy I want to be a waiter. He says they don’t need waiters but I can be a busser who helps wash dishes and move inventory. I was caught off guard they hired me so I agreed. He walks me to the back of the restaurant to meet the owner. This is where it gets weird. The owner is counting money. He says this is…

My job has an ever evolving rotation of staff and my boss thinks it’s because us “young folks just don’t want to work”. Today I found out that certain positions are hired at 15 an hour BUT only if they work 40 hours or more per week. If they miss even an hour of work they’re bumped down to 12 an hour for that week. On top of that we have no benefits and only get PTO after a year. Oh and no paid holidays. And they close/have staff stay home with no pay all the time. But yeah, people in their 20’s are just lazy. That’s the problem here.
I finally quit my toxic job
I used to work for a large theater ticket sales and service call center for 2 years. Then became a face to face teller at a bank and finally ended up at a big Auto insurance company, selling and servicing customers over the phone for 2 years. A few weeks ago, I hit my 2 year anniversary at the insurance job and at the same time, the job had announced what my schedule would be for the next 6 months. (They have this thing where you submit your top 5 schedule choices and they put you into a large pool of other employees that then get run through a filtering software, that selects your schedule.) I ended up with shitty choices and have never had a schedule where you have 2 days off in a row. I ended up getting an email from Corporate, congratulating me for my 2 years…
