So my friend got “promoted” to become a loader/dock worker at a freight line company and will start in 2 weeks. His “lovely” company will require him to work 5 nights a week with 10 hour shifts, without overtime pay (as barbaric as that sounds it's legal for them to do this)… But then he informed they also expect him to be “On-call” as well… Which made me ABSOLUTELY “love” the company even more. He's not gonna quit the job, because he is only going to stay there temporarily to save up enough money to pay for school. I told him he can quit anytime if it gets too much. So, I strongly advised to him: if they do text/call him on his off day not to answer them at all. If he does accidentally answer them to tell them “he has been drinking alcohol” or state “he's out of…
Do they, though?
Thoughta on Anti-Natalism
Hello fellow anti-workers, are you an anti-natilist? (against the act of bringing a conscious being into this never-ending nightmare aka having children) If you're not, how do you justify that? Not here to argue, will just upvote and note your point. Please don't start arguments , just want to hear opinions.
Does anyone have any insight on this kind of predicament? He's quite dissatisfied with the work-life-compensation balance and has gone on one interview elsewhere. today he told his employer this so that they have time to come up with a counteroffer, but he's also nervous that they'll let him go out of spite. as many companies these days, he's one of two employees doing the actual work, and the other employee is moving away in a few months, but my bf is unsure whether his employer knows that. should both my bf and this other employee leave, this business will fail, and logically, we all hope they know that, but 🤷‍️
Salary to hourly?
I just accepted a new position about two months ago for an analyst job with a company I had worked with for almost a decade. They asked my salary requirements and I gave them my range. It took them a week to respond and they stated they needed time to get approval to confirm I could be hired for the yearly rate I gave them. Fast forward and I accepted the position with the rate I asked but now the company is telling me that my position is not even allowed to be salary and they are moving me to an hourly wage. They resent my offer letter and are telling me to sign again for the new hourly rate (which actually reduces my salary by about $5 over the year, funny they went that way instead of paying me the better end of the calculation). Any suggestions on how…
Hi All, Currently working a miserable 8-6 M-F job. We have open enrollment for our benefits ending this Thursday. Is it kosher to enroll in benefits during “working hours”? What’s the general consensus in society, and not just those who hate capitalism?
My manager informed me today that the doctor who owns our practice expects us to go to this Cinco de Mayo parade on Saturday. I asked if we were being paid. She said no. “I can’t say it’s mandatory but it’s EXPECTED.” Just making sure this can’t come back on me because no fucking way am I going. I don’t like parades. I live 20 minutes away. I have zero interest. I get shit done on weekends. He can expect whatever he wants. I am not going unless he pays.

The irritating thing is I live paycheck to paycheck…. But I don’t have to. I work 4 on 4 off 12s. And I could easily work 1 OT day a week and I would have my credit cards payed off and start accruing savings in like 2 months (I do like 1 ot day a month if that, right now it’s like 1 every other month) But the thought of losing 3 or 4 more days off a month just feels awful to me. I don’t hate my job but I love my time off. I feel like a bad person for this. Like there are a ton of people who are in poverty or who live paycheck to paycheck and they don’t have a a choice. I do but I’m just… lazy? I’m not sure what to do with that information. I’m also a little afraid I would just…
