Hi all! First time posting here and have been searching for others experiences! Gonna try to keep it short. Found a post on a group for a local place hiring cashiers. Got called for an “interview” which was basically a run down of the job, cashier + stocking some of the items. The days : Mon/Wed (all day in my head 8hrs), then Thur/Fri closing. Was asked how much I'd want in terms of pay then after saying yea this all fine, asked to start the next day if I could. (Red flag I missed) and said yes not realizing all day means 10+ hours to help open and close. 7h15 to 6h30. All under the impression this was to learn both opening things and closing. Ok… I was asked no actual interview questions and wasn't told any benefits, schedule in terms of the “normal” hours expected… unorganised mess. (2nd…
I work at a daycare in Georgia and we are required by licensing to have 10 hours of training every year. Its done off the clock. My current employer does not pay us for the time spent training, but the training is a requirement of being employed. There’s a current debate going on among my coworkers about whether they are required to pay us or not. I wasn’t able to find anything about it online. Does anyone happen to know if we’re supposed to be paid for the training hours? Edit: by licensing I mean the employer’s license to operate requires each employee has 10hrs of training
I've always had jobs with absurdly strict policies, but I recently started a job that is kind of too lenient. People can call in all the time and do to the point of making it suck to work there. We are working short like every shift, but in the policy, it takes like 2 years of calling in for someone to actually get fired for it. People should be able to call in when they need to, but this is basically making a culture of calling in whenever you just don't want to work.
I rarely see jobs being advertised at 40 hours a week (well in education or heritage sector) these days. These are perm jobs with benefits, packages, and such. Have we reached an era where we start normalizing 35-work week or I'm just living in fantasy?
Any way to get them to back off on the uniform reimbursable? I don't recall signing for them ever since they never physically gave them to me, but I suppose there could have been a page in orientation I don't recall. I may have signed figuring it wasn't gonna be an issue since I was unaware of the crappy system they had. Or are they just trying to get me to sign for them now with this email I got? Do I even need to do anything with this? It feels like it's only for their benefit. Email simply reads “Please see the attached and let me know if you have any questions. ” Doesn't even have instructions to sign or return it. Just the following attachment. https://preview.redd.it/gwfzpf5j4js81.png?width=711&format=png&auto=webp&s=6327168b4dcd37bd394b05ad8350ef4e6fcb16f3 Response email from me: I had not received any uniforms until after I put in my 2 weeks notice. Therefore, I never…
Every job I have worked I have been sexually harassed or assaulted examples of this is dudes on a daily basis asking me if I have on panties or bras on, what color, what size extra. I have had dudes grab my tit and grab my ass, I have also been jumped at work for reporting a coworker for selling drugs and physically assaulting me when I refused to take or buy drugs. I have been in a situation where I had to tell a manger about my mental disability and was told we don't do excuses here, when a formal request for accommodations was made to Hr I was immediately given the option to sign a non disclosure with a larg sum of money and walk away or be put in an area where no women is put due to the dudes being overly aggressive to females sexual harrasment…
I worked as the lead for a covid sanitation crew, pretty relaxed job all in all. Earlier this week I was called and told not to return because I had left shift early the day before. The reason I left? I was in such debilitating pain that I could barely walk. The manager that fired me has never met me and doesn't even work my shift, he was just mad that I've left early since being told not to. I worked through a staffing agency so they technically didn't even need a reason to put me on the do not return list, but it really sucks. This was the first job that wasn't burning me out.
