My general manager has made this job a living hell. She screams at me for seemingly any reason and randomly institutes new rules using me as the example of what not to do (especially when she was the one who taught me how to do the task in the first place!) She physically gets in the way of me doing my job and shouts “ExCuSE YoU!” rather rudely any time she passes you, complains about me to my face, and screams like a giant toddler when you do literally anything. The environment there has gotten so toxic that I started looking for a new job about a week into working with her. Besides the yelling and indirect insults, she won't let employees go home on time. I worked an extra HOUR today because she refused to allow me to clock out. I could understand like 10-15 minutes over bc we…
My mom hurt her foot a couple weeks ago, and wasnt able to get into the doctor until today. In the meantime, she told her coworkers and her manager that she's sorry if she's a little slow but she's trying, explained the whole injury and nobody really said anything. A week or so later, her manager brought her in, and told her she is receiving a written reprimand for “purposely working at a slow pace”. Today she finally got to the doctor, and it turns out she broke a bone in her foot. Came back into her work with a boot on, and the manager was flabbergasted. They actually thought she was purposely being slow to fuck them over…
Mandatory Return To Office
I work for a large tech company in the US. This info was just relayed from upper management stating (I work on the facilities team), “by early next week, an email will be going out stating that all employees must return to the office, if they’re in close proximity to the office space.” The company is removing their “swap to remote” policies and are making everyone return. God this company and the CEO are so tone deaf. Either everyone is going to quit, or everyone is going to complain so that the rules change. This should be fun!
When I had been there for about a year they decided that it was easier to start a new group chat than to kick the ex staff member off of it as they never commented, just showed up as seeing whatever was posted. It took them 6 days to start a new one without me. I sent something to the owner (we have similar tastes in artwork) and got a “like” but nothing else. I continue to like and share their posts because they're a small business that needs promoting and I'm not a dick. But 4 weeks since I left, and only one person will talk to me. Like if you don't like me, why are you still following me on Facebook and Instagram? And I know one of them is only like that because if they act like they're friends with me it'll cause issues for them at…
Title says backstory Current minimum wage in my province is $15 an hour CAD- and it’s part time so no benefits. I need advice on what to do- I.E. how do I negotiate hours I want and should I try to aim for over minimum or just take what I can get? For an idea of the job market RN- “nobody wants to work” say the billionaires. My friend who got a job at the local Tim Hortons said “They’re so desperate for workers it’s not even funny” Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit for this
I feel like I am in the significant minority on this one sometimes. Everyone around me is brainwashed by the toxic work culture mindset of non-stop productivity and presenteeism. I have always found it weird to request time off for any reason. Often times it's stuff that we can't do anything about anyway so why are we requesting it? We're not indentured servants, forced to pay off a debt. Employment is optional to start or finish, but rarely to take a break during. Why?!!? please bossman, pretty please can I have a tiny amount of my own life back so I can fix my root canal/once-a-decade vacation/scratch my ass at home because that's my business?? NO Fine, I'll take my entire lunch, both 15 minute breaks, extended bathroom 'breaks', and the last 3 hours of the day to browse Reddit while sitting at my desk at work, and every time…
Along with, apparently, most of their departments—even supervisors were sent packing. No warning, no severance, no offers of help whatsoever yet. Absolutely nothing to do with performance, either; just straight up “get thee out”. Something about spending the money on some high-up’s lawyer fees rather than employ a few dozen people, or something along those lines. We mean less than nothing to these formless, heartless, soulless entities. The sooner everyone wakes the hell up and realizes this, the better.
