I absolutely loved my job. It was a sales position that had a 3 days at the office, 2 days from home mix that usually worked really well for me. Between my coworker and I working the same position, I got the most sales every month, the most appointments scheduled, and the best reviews from our customers. Because of this, and since I had been with the company for over a year, I decided I would ask for a raise. When I asked my manager for a raise she said “You should qualify for a cost of living raise. I will talk to the other manager about it and let you know!” A week goes by, and I never heard back. So I decided to inquire, but apparently my coworker and I don't qualify for raises since we work on mostly commission. That's fine, a little annoying, but whatever. That…
Im quitting my awful toxic job
So I work at a nursing home as a dietary aide but I hate it and was told by the previous manager who hired me (he quit bc he hated it too), that I could switch to activities if I was so inclined to. well two months later and Im still here and they keep telling me “soon I will be in activities.” Im sick of it and I already have a short term job lined up afterwards so I have 2 questions: 1.) if I have a handbook that says it requires I resign by a two weeks notice can they withhold my pay? I live in Michigan btw. I never signed a contract for that but its in the handbook now that I just looked. 2.) is this a good resignation letter? I want it to read as a peaceful mutual split of employee and employer. “Dear (manager),…
Stats to Support Working From Home?
We convinced our boss to re-evaluate the work from home standards and we're having a meeting on Friday. He's a big numbers guy and I'd like to bring some statistics to back me up. Can anyone point me to some good articles my reputable sources?
New Job, same BS
I work for a non-profit which has a mission to expand biomedical research. In September the horrible CEO/President FINALLY retired. She ruled the organization with an iron fist, forced people to come in during the pandemic, and walked around the office to make sure your butt was in a seat by starting time. There a multiple glass door reviews about how bad it is to work here, the turn-over rate is extra high, and the employees were so disgruntled that they talked of forming a union. The new CEO has been here a week and has not bothered to email staff, hold a staff meeting, or make herself available to anyone other than people in the C-Suite. She was the first woman to run the CDC and during that period, so many people left the CDC due to the toxic culture that Congress had to investigate how much she damaged…
Hmmm I wonder why…. (It’s in Wisconsin)
Large company cook
Today I was told, I’m “an extremely productive cook and am very reliable. My knowledge is vast and care a lot for the food.” The problem however is the management is a in each other’s pockets. I called this out and was told, “we like you a lot, but we don’t need you.” What a nice fuck you.
Advice For Being in a Pickle at Work.
Hello, antiwork. I have found myself in a conundrum, and any advice would be greatly appreciated. I will try to make this story as short as possible. Earlier this year I tore my MCL in my right knee. It took me a month to get a laptop to work from home, but finally it worked out. At the beginning of April I was given the green light to come back into the office. However, after about a month my knee started to hurt on a daily basis. So much so I've been calling in at least once a week for the past four weeks. So, I call my Dr, and advised I am still not 100%. They gave me a note saying I need to work from home 1-2 days a week. My HR Team said that wasn't specific enough. So, today I was given a much more detailed note.…
Anyone notice this?
Anyone notice how toxic shitty workplaces just attract toxic shitty people, and then the workplace just gets even worse and attracts more of these people in a cycle? I've been at this job for almost 2yrs and I've seen almost all of the decent ppl leave but the bootlickers stay and we just get even more. Then they gaslight you into thinking you're weird for thinking you shouldn't be pushed to the mental and physical limit every shift for $13-15/hr. Like can these people please find some self worth. I stg they all have stockholm syndrome and their whole life is this job. It's really sad. It is not normal for a workplace to be like this. Luckily I'm quitting soon but jfc I hate these type of humans.
