Retirement will have to wait.
I've been eligible to retire for 2 years I honestly thought 2022 would be the year.I work between 1750 and 2000 hrs a year, blue collar, union and hands on, physical, high stress work. but after further thought I realize my grandchildren are at a very impressionable age right now and I think it would better serve them if I forgo retirement for a couple more years to try to set a good example for them so the don't end up like a lot of the deadbeats on this subreddit. I honestly believe the work ethic of the next few generations of Americans is going to determine whether this country progresses forward or goes down in flames
I currently work at a SaaS company in sales and I am on a six month maternity leave. My current salary is $160k OTE, but I made over $285k last year due to overtime (yes, we are hourly), RSUs, achieving my annual quota and working my tail off. Once my maternity leave is up in June, I have no desire to return to my place of employment, so I have been interviewing for new sales roles in SaaS/consulting. The current offers I am receiving are around $270k-$300k+ with similar benefits. Here is the kicker: my current place of employment states in their Employee Handbook, 'you must agree to reimburse if you voluntarily separate from employment within 90 days of the end of your Paid Parental Leave period.' I emailed HR asking about voluntarily departure once I return and they responded saying 'you could be requested to pay back the PPL…

My salary expectations?!
I have been asked by my manager what my salary expectations are for 2023. Apologies for the long ass post but i don’t want to skip ‘key points’ Background information: Job role: technical support Location: Lower east Essex The bonus is 25% personal target & 75% company if we hit our yearly target turnover. I don’t like to count the 75% bonus as what i earn because this is the first year the company has hit bonus in the last 10+ years so not consistent. Joining salary (Dec 2018): 26k (+2k yearly bonus) Jan 2020: 27k (+4k yearly bonus) July 2020: 29k (bonus remains the same as Jan 2020) Jan 2021: 30k (+4k yearly bonus) Jan 2022: 30k (+6k yearly bonus) There is only 10 of us, 3 in which are salesman so 7 of us office based. I get on with the UK manager really well who also happens…
Got the job but did not get it..
apparently i was “hired” they did the vehicle insurance check(driving job) apparently I was ok'ed for it since i have a 100% clean record then the manager behind my back claimed to have hired someone else but they still have the ad up for the job but the manager claimed the ad they had was still up by mistake it's has been up for a while … and the video screen they have at the dealership is updated often it's kinda hard to claim it's still up by “mistake”… i kinda feel i was discriminated against because i have a mild speech impediment (Temporomandibular joint dysfunction) it would not have been an issue driving as i'm used to driving a large vehicle. ( i had a pick up truck that was 250 inches long it had an 8 foot bed) and the vehicle they had was an 225”..and my current…
I work for a small facility that is part of the county, which makes me a county employee. We have a Union and one of the rules of the union is that you cannot be fired without just cause. In order to fire someone, the management must have a hearing with our union reps to prove that the employee has done something worthy of them being fired. Over the course of the three years I have been working here, I have noticed that the management has a way around this. When they want someone fired, but do not have a good reason to want them fired, they will give them an excessive amount of write ups for every little thing. A recent example of this is out buildings maintenance man. He was a good worker who had been there 20 something years. The newer members of management didn’t like him…
