There's been this sort of social contract with capitalism where everyone is just supposed to participate. Marketing is the tool businesses use to manipulate us. Every movie you watch, product you buy, and service you use is a piece of information being used by companies to track you and then respond to what you like so that it can manipulate you. It's an aggressive covert mission to get into your head and figure out how to get you to give them your money. But people saying no to Netflix shows a glimmer of hope for the future. Imagine if people decide to just not participate in the process. Imagine if companies like CNN are trying to capture what you want but they are calling on deaf ears. This is what Antiwork is all about. It's about saying no to the predators out there who want to use you. Their biggest…

What are your thoughts ?
This happened almost 5 years ago. Some details are intentionally vague. This will be a long read but I promise it would be worth it at the end. I was working in an organisation that was super toxic. So much so that we were a revolving door- most employees stayed only a few months. To counter this, our management put 3 months notice into everyone’s contract including existing employees (it’s not strictly illegal where this happened, but very unusual). I believe the idea was to make it harder for employees to find a job outside as employers didn’t usually want to wait for 3 months. However this didn’t work as people simply quit and waited for a month or two before starting their job hunt. I was there almost 4 years. I needed the money, so I put up with whatever abusive shit was thrown at me. My boss was…
I was hired as an exempt employee 6 months ago for a company but my state has a minimum salary that must be paid for someone to be considered exempt. The company I was working for paid me about 7k less a year than what the minimum to be exempt is. I didn't say anything when I got hired because I really needed the job. Well, I got a new job recently that exceeds that minimum. Should I file a wage claim against my former employer? I never really worked overtime – on occasion I did – but for me it's more about the principle. They broke a state labor law. They need to obey those laws. The only way companies are going to do that is if they face legal consequences. On the other hand, I'm tired and exhausted all the time from work. Is it really worth the…
Understand your company’s policy.
This is an advise coming from someone who can’t stand up for her co-worker because I’m bound to SHUT THE F UP. My co-worker was sexually harassed by her immediate supervisor and shared it on social media. She hasn’t been reporting to work because of fear, and NOW she’s the one being asked to explain her absences. I freaking want to share the post so it could get attention, and finally get the predator punished but I can’t. I want to walk away from this company, I wish I could afford it. Fuck the company’s social media policy. Hate how capitalism controls pretty much everything you do.
