I run a maintenance department we currently have 4 job opening which mean we are staffed at 50% Was talking with my boss at how the search was going to fill them and he was talking about how it's next to impossible to find good talent. I think we need to pay better but there are very few people looking that have the skill sets we need. I mentioned that right now the only people we will find that fit our needs are people looking because their current employer pissed them off…. So don't piss me off. We seriously need more apprenticeships
Company fucks around and finds out.
So glad I left
I worked at fast food since I was 17. I turned 26 in October. I was doing open to close for weeks except my one day off. Then kept calling me to come in on my day off but I never answered my phone. When I went back in on my next shift, they wrote me up for “not being a team player and leaving the store short handed. For being insubordinate.” I finished my shift that day because I actually liked the night manager and quit when I got home. I left a note on the desk saying that was my last day. Months later I find out the GM had been taking 10 hours a week off my paycheck because overtime wasn’t allowed but they expected me to work overtime. Now his store is going downhill and he’s under investigation after I emailed DOL. Fuck fast food
I know I'm preaching to the choir here but I'm in a shit situation and need to rant. My brother recently caught Covid from work. His job could be done remotely and was for two years, but the powers that be decided everyone needed to go back to the office. He is very cautious and wears a mask, but his anti-vax, anti-mask coworkers make a joke of coughing on him and one of them gave him Covid because dude showed up to work knowing he was positive but “felt fine”. My brother's work does not have sick pay so he's taking a week off unpaid. That's 25% of his monthly income gone. He's gonna have to go into credit card debt to pay his bills this month. Unfortunately, he saw my family (self, husband, and two kids) before he realized he had Covid. Now we have it. It's unfortunate timing…
My grandfather in law passed away this past Sunday. I emailed my supervisor to let her know I would not be coming in on Monday to spend with family and Thursday and Friday for the funeral. Her response was “Oy. Do you have someone to cover you?” I ignored her. I work billing insurance claims, the work is not ground breaking in the slightest. She texted me on my personal phone on Monday to tell me to put my out of office so any emails would be forwarded to her. Fair enough. Then Thursday comes around. I’m at the morning service and I get another text from her. “So sorry to bother. Can you please forward me the email you sent to the case manager? The facility wants to follow up, thanks!” I am quitting on Friday. This isn’t the first time she has been disrespectful or crossed boundaries, but…
I have a good Union Steelworker job that is secure, has good benefits, pays well and has a well written collective bargaining agreement that protects me from quite a lot and I don't gotta grovel every year for a raise. I'm not really looking to leave. But out of habit, I'm always skimming Indeed for stuff that pays better. I been punching above my belt on some things, you never know, but I've also applied to a lot of garbage since last November. It was starting to really make me grind my teeth seeing many vague or zero salary listings to constantly skim past. I interview really well, I have a good resume and I am likable and easy to get along with and it shouldn't matter, but we know it sadly does… I'm young (early 30s), clean cut, Caucasian and male w/ wife and family. I'm an ideal demographic.…
My partner failed to fit in to the boys club, and talked about his feelings and ambitions at work. (The desire to move back into leadership in this massive company and utilize his experience and education) He’s been targeted ever since. Just got put on a PiP for made up issues that the manager refused to follow procedure with or even talk to him about. Called him after hours with no invite on the books to give him notice, even though there was zero negative feedback and amazing positive experience from high level people. He has 30 days. My partner has ridiculous experience, multiple degrees (doctorate level) and almost 20 years in the industry and took a lower role after the pandemic to make ends meet. At one of the leading companies in the industry. All issues listed In The performance improvement plan are made up. Literally. And none were…
