Work sucks and one of the worst things about it are the long, pointless meetings. I put together a free guide to try and make meetings suck a little bit less. https://www.supereasycrm.com/blog/meeting-agenda-examples Enjoy!
PTO Left Pending
I sent my boss a request for only 2 days off 2 weeks and a few days prior to that date and I have all my days still and some rolled over. After the initial notification, I sent a direct email and then a gchat. Other colleagues got their time approved in the mean time and mine was left pending. Safe to say I am looking for a new job. Call it petty or call it whatever you want but I made plans, spent money for reservations, luckily purchased travel insurance. I always try to be there for my colleagues but nope. That was it for me.
ADA Reasonable Accommodation Laws
I work for a small company where the owner literally is HR. I asked the office manager about Work From Home Accommodations. I have a letter from my doctor asking them to allow me 8 work from home days a month as needed for my condition. As it stands I miss several days a month and working from home would allow me to better control my environment to mitigate my pain at a level that is not attainable from the office I work in. Currently there are two work from home employees, one of which does the same job as me and works out of state. On occasion I have worked from home, but it has fully been at the discretion of my manager. My job is 100% doable from home. As far as I am aware, the company has 13 normal employees and several contracted workers. The office manager…
Hey All, Can someone help me find how to report my workplace to the labor board? I've gone to the Georgia department of labor website, but I'm having trouble finding where to submit a report. Any help is much appreciated.
Job Offer Letter was Rescinded
My boyfriend received an offer letter yesterday from a potential employer. asked them when they would like an answer from him, which is reasonable, right? the owner of the company was somewhat taken aback by this and said he wanted it now, but he apprehensively agreed to Wednesday, as my boyfriend has a meeting with his current employer with the intention of either putting in his two-weeks or getting a counter offer. my boyfriend texted the owner of the potential new place last night (the same night he received the offer) a question regarding his position. he was left on read. today, he followed up and the owner called him recinding the offer letter after less than 24 hours citing the reason that he felt uncomfortable with how things were left the day prior, as in my boyfriend asking for a few days to consider the offer. has anyone else…
I am a freelancer in my field, with over a decade of experience, certifications, glowing references, etc. I make a good living, and have worked remotely / independently for at least 8 years. I panic-applied for a job when there was some instability with my partner's job – they are the one with insurance. (That has since been resolved for the time being.) The position I applied for was borderline entry-level, think someone with a degree, maybe a couple years experience. There were two job postings by this company that were kind of adjacent to eachother, but not the same. Well, they interviewed me – remotely over zoom, I might add. When they realized the amount of skills and experience I have, they got really excited, did a second zoom interview, then brought me into the office to interview with a couple members of the C-suite. They asked my salary…
nobody want to work anymor….
When you replace 'work' with the job it's a no-brainer. They never have! Nobody want to 'cut grass' anymore. Nobody wants to 'input data into a computer' anymore. What's yours? Nobody wants to ________ anymore.
They have also told people similar things to that at individual level (including using it as a threat to not hire in a temp). Of course we go to our lines and friend coworker goes “bet you know that osha statute by heart” as I had pointed out that it was a violation every god damn time I have heard it.
Landed a new job
After 16 years of working for a major chemical company, I decided I’d had enough. Worked my way from being the first and only temp service employee, to running and scheduling production on 7 machines. While it was a tough choice to make I couldn’t go back and forth from 1st and 3rd shift any longer. Couldn’t put in 65 hour weeks any more. Couldn’t have 7 phones calls in the middle of the night on a vacation day. And most of all, I couldn’t ask my crew to do it any more either. I came across an inventory management job and decided to apply. 4 days later I have a job offer. 70k salaried, 40-45 hours a week, 2 weeks vacation and other similar benefits. Small, growing company with lots of growth potential. As great as it sounded, it was still a tough decision. I called my current boss…
