More trolling this week. For context it was supposed to be cornstarch. I now have 2kg of citric acid instead, if anyone has any suggestions.

Reminder that the internet is not real. You must go organize in the real world.

It's great that we can tell each other stories here and commiserate about how much it sucks to be wage slaves. It's really nice compared to when we didn't have places like this. It's a welcome comfort. But that's all it is. So many people say things like “why aren't we doing anything”? I'll tell you why. Because the internet is not real. We need large real-world organizations to wield power in the real world. That means that large numbers of people need to show up, in person, consistently for years on end, to work with people in the real world to end our shared oppression. Right now the situation is that there are a scattering of small groups in most places. Each of these groups has single digit, maybe if they're lucky double-digit numbers of active members. These people do all the paperwork, all the organizing work, come up…

Big and Last day at work today

To give you context, i work for a, at best, shady company. The interviews and job ads dont show that the job is door-door and the boss rakes in money whether we do or not. He, ofcourse, rakes in more when we get more. The job's been tough lately and no one was making good money. We get paid a base wage that's less than half the minimum wage and then commission. The main company doesnt even hire our boss but incorporates him under a different company and then he hires us as independent contractors so we dont get minimum wage, benefits, sick leave or employment insurance. This is just the tip of the shady iceberg. A few of my coworkers (everyone in the office but 1 person) decided we have had enough of the boss's demeaning attitude and shit pay, in about 4.5 hours we will go to our…

Car Trouble

I just need to rant. I got to my car this morning and my car is dead. No explanation as to why. So I email my boss telling him that I need to find a way to fix my car in order to get to work as I have no other way to get there and I may not be able to make it today. His only response is, “You need to be at work.” Mind you it is pouring rain and storming. I can’t exactly work on my car safely at the moment. I just don’t want to get fired over this.

PTO “pay out”

I've worked for this big-name retail chain for the past seven years. We were “essential” during the pandemic, so with the combination of burn out from that to now with hours being cut & being short-staffed, naturally I have found another job with a company I've been wanting to work for for years. While waiting for my background check & onboarding, I decided to look into if my current (soon to be ex) employer pays out PTO. I can't say I'm surprised, but it definitely was worse than I expected. They use a formula of your starting accrued PTO for the fiscal year x a percentage (if you resign the first quarter, it's 0%, second is 25%, third is 50% & last is 100%), then take that number & subtract it by any PTO you used. The result is almost always going to be under zero, or at least not…
