Stuck, stucker, sucks.
So I am working for this company for half a year. The job is on an education level I never got papers for but worked my way to achieve. Because of this I see a lot of red flags from experience in other jobs. I have voiced these observations to my boss who is the owner of the company, with possible solutions and how I could see my own part in putting these changes in motion. HR was in the conversation as well. Both were super enthousiastic and saw me in a number of roles that would benefit the company. Only issue; I am needed where I am now and would only get my hands free for another position if they automate part of the process for the role I'm in now. Which would be happening “soon”. Forward 4 months; our department that will build the automation projects for 2023…
Shouldn’t they be embarrassed?
So we have seen all those signs saying “Nobody wants to work” signs and the “Short Staffed” signs that are hung up all over the place. There's usually an air of arrogance to them, but like, shouldn't these business owners be ashamed and embarrassed? If your place of business cannot stay open because you cannot retain staff, that means your business is failing. These owners should be doing all in their power to try and keep their business alive, but all they do instead is whine and think it's everyone else's fault. Like, wake up business owners. If your shop closes down, no one but you are gonna suffer. Someone else will take over what used to be your commercial space, open up a new venture, and life will go on. YOU'RE (the owner) the one who will be out of money. YOU'RE the one who will lose their job.…
When I first accepted the job that I had, I was told the work life balance is terrific, it's a corporate office job 9:00 to 5:00, very relaxed even pace job. Okay, sounds terrific. Well fast forward to this week we got a random project that was a pretty urgent project we have to work on. Informed my manager that I had something else going on in my personal life and I would need a little bit extra time, it was like that was completely ignored and I was expected to work all throughout the personal time that I needed. Pounding me every single day calling my cell phone. I missed a work call at 5:50 p.m. that lasted 1 and 1/2 hours until 7:30 at night… I log in this morning she had sent me several emails one at 7:00 p.m. another at 12:00 a.m. who in the fuck…
I can’t fit into this society
And that's fucking okay, I'm breaking the mold of what's normal, I'm doing whatever tf I want. And if that's fucking around or making art then so be it If that's building Lego for a date then imma do it If it's spontaneous going on a wilderness survival trip for a week then fuck it, imma do it I cant fit into this society, minimum wage ain't shit, people here are in it for themselves, no one here seeks higher pleasures in life (which I have a great video for you all) https://youtu.be/GxZSpsaTL2c Anyways, sorry, I know none of you care about me either, and that's fine, but I bring a gift of wisdom and that is the link I just sent. I hope it helps you in your quest within life, as it did for me.
Quit my job and I want to thank you all
Title says it all. I worked for almost 19 years at a major home improvement retailer. There were ups and downs, some great managers and some human trash fires. My particular position was so stressful it was killing me, just leaving me a husk of a human being. I’d thought about quitting hundreds…maybe thousands of times. Considered suicide over quitting at points, believe it or not. Well…the great resignation came along and I found r/antiwork. You guys gave me enough stories about sticking it to shitty jobs, walking, and getting something better that it gave me hope. So…I did that. Got a job at a local competitor. More pay, better benefits, kinder company culture, more company dedication to excellence. I know someone who works there who verifies that these things aren’t just hiring manager BS. I start in a week, and I’m excited. I wanted to take a minute to…
