Effective protesting has to make waves
I'm leaving my job because I was refused a COL raise after sticking it out during a year when 4 of my colleagues left and weren't replaced (you can guess what happened to their workloads). When I handed in my notice after securing an offer for more money elsewhere (woohoo!), they denied me the bonus I was promised for helping the company do well during the most recent fiscal year. Adding insult to injury, the bonus was about £1100 which is a lot of money for me, but pennies to this very large international company. I'm wrapping up my last few days and preparing the OOO message that will bounce back when people try to email me after my final day. Think, 'funsizejj has now left the company, please direct any messages to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).' I'd like to include an antiwork-related quote at the bottom- nothing too aggressive, just a reminder…
Manager put hands on me to move me
Gonna keep this short and vague as I don’t want to give any breadcrumbs as to where I work. Also, apologies in advance, I’m typing this out on mobile. My (40sF) direct manager placed hands on me (30sF) to physically move me (think moved my hands, arms, or body). It was forceful and aggressive and definitely done out of impatience as I was having technical problems on a couple devices. I was in shock and definitely didn’t know what to do, especially since it was done in front of my team during an in person meeting. So I acted as if it didn’t happen and moved forward with the meeting. I did report to HR after the situation had happened but I am not really sure what to do. HR is essentially leaving it up to me how I want to deal with future interactions with her, but there hasn’t…
I just recently got my “big break” I went from working two jobs at an auto parts store & gas station 10+ hours a day 6 days a week with 20 or so hours off on wednesdays, to working for a quite large contract in my area. Quickly I made a name for my self in the first 2 months and became the go to guy, I work very hard and diligently no matter how big or small the task is. My title would be “laborer” and came with a decent pay raise (compared to working 2 jobs with little time off) as well as benefits (health, dental, vision, as well as a matching 401k) it was apparent that if they wanted something done, and done right, it was why they were coming to me. Very recently I was given tasks in black and white that very clearly were taken…
The high-end pictures of people in shorts and sandals, stretching their legs somewhere in Bali, while using their pricey high-end laptops (which not all companies will bless you with btw), might be appealing but I'm also afraid this is being shoved down our throats when people just really want is more vacation or better work-life balance. Should work really follow us everywhere like IV bags? I actually kinda like the idea of associating work with just one and only one place. What if I had a bad meeting during a trip I've been looking forward to? Why would I ever give them that much power over me?
My job recently has given a raise…
Hello. I recently joined this subreddit because I love seeing all the words spit out from everyone and I really agree a lot on the thoughts and angers that happen with the terrible employers. I currently work for a federal + NAF organization on a military installation. I've been here for a year now and I am feeling a burnout faster than a wild fire. It's more recently where I've grown into insomnia/oversleep, but the more and more I work with my co-workers and poor management skills from the management team, I just want to quit and move out to live on my own somewhere. See… My wage was at $11.23, and I had one raise and it was only to $11.58. Hours and hours were racked but with the recent hirings not only my hours are cut back AND can't get them back because “I called in too much…
Anonymous NLRB complaints?
My employer is committing wage theft. Our employment contracts state we get paid for all drive time to the job and that we get paid for the drive home minus one hour. The company is not abiding their own policy on this, the owner punches your address and the worksite address into google maps and we only get paid the amount of time that google maps tells him it SHOULD take to travel. Have to go to the shop first for parts? “You should already have them in your truck, we aren’t paying you for that 2 hour drive to the shop” and other BS examples abound. Numerous employees have noticed missing hours on their checks and the google maps thing has been the explanation provided as to why, in multiple emails. We use a time clock app on our phones for time punches and payroll is administered through a…
