working with covid
Imagine you were tested positive but you only have mild symptoms and you are working from home. Would you call in sick (payed) or continue to work? Im working in the company for 2 years and only called in sick once for 3 days. Unfortunately this was just 2 weeks ago
Hello guys, I came accros this sub and really enjoy it. It’s crazy to think we are that many to think about changing the way we work. I have a question though, because I am from Europe, and a lot of posts are about healthy security. Just wanted to know from an American how does it actually work in the us. For instance, in Western Europe, I have my gross salary, and I receive a net salary. This is because I (mostly) pay government tax, retirement tax, unemployment revenue tax and health tax. So when I for instance have to go to the doctor or the hospital, I have to pay the bill but I immediately get paid back by the government. I think it is about 400€ per month in my country, but don’t really see it because it is in the tax before receiving the salary. A lot…
To provide some context, I work in a major retail outlet and today was extremely busy and understaffed due to over half of the crew having to quarantine cause of COVID and close contacts. The management weren’t able to call any people in leaving a lot of us having to pick up slack of other staff members and it was rather exhausting on everyone involved. The management warned me today that tomorrow is going to be the same, if not worse (cause it’s a Saturday and people love taking their families out on weekends) and I just don’t know if I want to go through something like that again. Should I just join the pack and say I can’t come in? Might be a shitty move but, any thoughts?

I just want to quit working at Amazon
So im back, I come here every once in a while about my shitty work at amazon the place were I got injured and expected to do almost the samething I did preinjury. Well I cant use my left arm to lift anything more than 10 pounds and might have permanent nerve damage. I need the work but I dont have many bills to pay besides phone interenet cable and house phone since i live with my parents until I graduate community college(I pay for groceries and try to help with what I can) so the money I can deal without work for 2 months but I dont know if I should quit or not. The main reason im here asking is because I dont know if my medical benifits will be cut once I quit and im very scared because I dont know if I can cover the medical…
Not accepting holiday
(Work part time whilst studying) I requested 8 days off two weeks ago, as my and my gf are going on vacation, and before submitting my request I double checked with my manager if it would be fine. She said it would most likely be accepted and I’d probably be fine to book the flights – which I did and they cost a few hundred £’s. I presumed my manager authorised all holiday, but I got the email back today from a name in the company I hadn’t heard of before, saying only 3 out of the 8 days had been accepted. So first thing I do is message my manager saying something like ‘you told me it’d be fine’ and she said ‘nothing I can do now’. I’ve explained to her I will in fact be on holiday for the entire 8 days whether she likes it or not,…
First off I don't even have the excuse that my job sucks. I'm a medical transcriptionist, and it's kinda the chillest job i've ever had. My coworkers are nice, helpful people, my manager is responsible and reasonable. I'm also able to work from home which is a luxury to me. And still there are days I'd rather die than work. Am I just depressed? I work part time (10 hours a week) next to studying full time. I'm falling behind on my studies because I'm so burned out, but I don't feel anywhere nearly as bad on school days. When I'm working, I'm constantly worrying that I'm not doing enough, how much slack there is to pick up, but also I'm stressing over dealines on assignments for uni that I'm not even working towards during the work hours. I want to quit, but then how do I pay the bills,…
I tripled my income with this trick
Hi antiwork, you may remember me. I attempted to bring traction and awareness to Amazons absurd and gross food waste in their warehouses for Fresh deliveries a while back. Inevitably, I was put under investigation and I resigned before anything could come of it. Fuck you, Amazon. I grew up lower middle class and remained that way until this past year. In the past year, I completely changed paths 3x and am now making $100k+. I went from a generic customer service call center role > amazon + call center (70-80 hr weeks)> pest control technician + amazon > truck driver. I am so much happier and am no longer dealing with stupid bullshit and finally making enough money that I feel like I can breathe. I feel like I am working for a reason and not to just stay alive now. I can now comfortably support my daughter and…
