Far beyond simply bringing a person in for a chat after combing their resume and establishing rapport through an intro call, many companies have gone to Intro Call + Zoom/In Person meeting I with 2-3 people questioning the candidate followed by Zoom/In Person meeting II with 2-4 more people questioning the candidate, followed by radio silence for weeks on end before a decision is rendered. Before a candidate has even advanced to a phone call, some places will make you do ridiculous things like respond to essay questions or solve logic puzzles or record a video of yourself going over things without the nuance of human interaction. I find these hurdles ridiculous given the alleged shortage of labor. And that’s not even factoring in the outright discrimination against older workers, the disabled, minorities, and younger workers in regards to opportunity and salary. well my parents both died so….
Disclaimer, this is not a story about me, one of my coworkers was out for 2 weeks and each of us have roughly 100-200 clients assigned to us When she came back she told me she had found out both her parents had died and was taking care of there estate and just dealing with it as best she could, at the end of the 2nd day after she came back she called me and said she just wanted to stop talking to clients for a few min, to which i was fine with. She told me some truly shitty things, her clients were wondering why she was out, which is understandable, her response to all of them was “o i was just out of the office but i am back now” Her clients were fucking awful, they were literally demanding to know why she was not there. saying things…
I love it when I'm interviewing with a potential employer and they try to pressure me with that stress test mind game by making it a hostile interview to test what I do under pressure. Gives me a great chance to call them out on being completely unprofessional before I end the interview and walk out the door while holding my composure. But hey, that's what they want right? To filter out all the “bad applicants”? Who “can't handle the pressure” of working for a obviously toxic boss? Hey at least it makes you and your buisness look good right? Lol Employers these days are completely out of touch. Ether present yourself as someone we want to work for, or don't expect us to try an impress you. Interviews go both ways.
