For the first time in 15 years my union finally cut some teeth.

This coming Friday the union I belong to is potentially going on strike. They called a special meeting for Thursday night to go over where we stand and where the association stand, followed by an authorization vote for a strike. From what I hear we’re miles apart. The last 15 years have been give up this, give up that. Losing benefits. I hope we strike. (Not just because I hate work, but secretly I’d be happy to have a week off)

General Welfare

The Constitution says that government should promote “General Welfare” of society. The vast majority of people earn paychecks, but the entire system is set up to benefit the tiny sliver of owners and wealthy that will never do a days work. How is this promoting “general welfare” to favor a sliver of society over the vast majority of people?

Ongoing Glassdoor Review Battle w/ Former Employer

So as the title says, I've had an ongoing battle with my former employer over my Glassdoor review for them. When I quit after months of micromanaging, abusive managing, and general toxicity, I took a few months off before starting my job search. In that time, I decided, “hey, I should go write them the poor review they deserve so other people know not to work there”. I wrote my one-star review on Glassdoor, wishing it could be a zero, and thought that was that. But it was only the beginning. They kept getting my review removed for violating community guidelines–specifically, “mentioning someone specific”. Which, sure, I guess saying “COO” was specific. But when I changed it to “upper management” they had it removed again, same reason. The same thing happened with “management” and even more general terms that I tried but can't remember now. Basically, for months, actual months,…

We’re full time workers and we keep getting sent home early. Not an option.

In florida, i work for a powersports company as a full timer (their isnt a part time position anywhere in the building to my knowledge) My GM comes to the back sometimes and tells everyone to leave before the shift is over (we work 8:00am-4:30/5:00shifts) today he did it at 3:45-4:00pm bc it was slow, which is always the reason we get sent home. (I wasn’t ard during this; im known to be a hard worker so I actually have never been told to leave directly) I’ll cut it short, my question is VVV To my knowledge- in Florida at least- full time workers that are sent home early MUST be compensated for the full days pay. Which we are not getting. Is this illegal?

$25 training fee

I worked a sales job for about a week a couple years ago. My first day they let me know there is a $25 dollar training fee what would be deducted from my first check. I think ‘okay whatever, they are gonna give me some hands on training.’ No. My boss gives me a packet and a script and says study this when you go home. I told him calmly, no. My first day was a Monday. I left on that Thursday.

One of the leaders at my job is a micromanager who is extremely abrasive, confrontational, and occasionally makes me do unreasonable tasks.

I work for Disney. He’s made me deliver several heavy amounts of cargo from one location to another. I even sustained a head injury as a result. Whenever I’m standing in the general area of a location that needs attention, he’ll have me do it. One time, the trash compactor was overfilled to the brim with trash, and by coincidence, I was standing near it doing my own stocker job. He told me that I might have to take care of the excess trash even though it’s janitorial’s job. Whenever there’s other people in the area who are capable of doing an unreasonable task, and I so happen to be there, he makes me do it because I’m the stocker or whatever. He never says thank you, he’ll confront me like I’m a robot, and gives me no recognition for my hard work. He never has anybody help me; so…

resolved to find a new job in 30 days

I work at a menial not-quite-minimum-wage-but-barely-better retail job, and have for the last number of years. Years of barely making rent, of juggling state insurance, of having to beg for enough hours to make it through, of coming home just exhausted. I could go into all of the soul crushing and horrible aspects of working for a small business that constantly emotionally manipulates its workers into feeling like they are responsible for the financial health of the business (one of them being how many customers love to think they're supporting such a morally good thing by shopping there. oh the things i wish i could tell you, lady buying a 35$ candle) but I'm sure there are lots of you with that experience and I don't have to beat the dead horse. Got up today absolutely resolved that come hell or high water, I will have a new job by…

Target price scanners are regularly higher than shelf price. Employees vs Managers

So I shop at Target occasionally. Don't judge me. So, at multiple locations, the price scanned and paid is significantly higher than shelf price. I know how to get the store fined for doing this as it is illegal. Question is (former Target employees), does getting the store fined punish hourly workers or management? I will only continue to do this if it punishes managment.
